I am working on the "add-on" high school site. I need some help compiling school information into csv files.
There are ~863 (I think that's the number of schools I imported) OHSAA schools.
What I currently have for each school:
School name (not mascot)
OHSAA district
County
What I need (in addition) for each school:
Mascot
Street
City
State
Zip
Athletic Department Phone
Primary Conference/League
Website
In order to easily import this data into the system each of the above items need to be their own column, as well as a column with the school name so the new data can be tied to the old data.
There are quite a few of you guys so if we divvy it up a little bit it shouldn't take too long. If this is something you are willing to do, just check in with whatever "letters" you are willing to take care of. Grab the info verbatim from the link below.

Let me know if none of this makes sense. It's late and I am tired.

I've attached a screenshot of one of the ideas I have for the new section of the site. What it will include is a layered map of every single high school in the state. I think it might be a good resource to have. I didn't see anything similar to it out there.

I just realized that the file needs to have the district and county in it as well.
And I was never gonna fire you. You're my favorite.

Ok, so I'm no computer genius or anything (I know, that's hard to believe). So, you want us to make a spreadsheet with that information or something? Show me an example of what you'd like if you could.

That could be a "bored at work" sort of deal for me. The grabbing of the info; not the formatting or any of that shit. Working at a newspaper, the OHSAA mails me a school directory every year that has all (or at least most) of that info for every school.

Yeah, just a spreadsheet (excel file) with each of those fields listed as a column. I'll whip up a quick one and attach it as an example.

I know absolutely nothing about excel, but when I experimented with it a little today, I couldn't import my sample sheet because it was it kept importing it in .xlsx form instead of .xls, any idea why it is doing that or what I am doing wrong? Not sure if it matters, but I stole this form of Microsoft office 2007, it is not a paid version.

I don't understand the situation. What are you trying to import? Do you mean attach it on here?

Also, I am thinking of adding in similar information for all colleges and pro (including minor league) teams in the state, as well. So the map would have pinpoints for essentially every single sporting venue in Ohio.

Alright justin, got a few done, when I save it, does it matter for you what format I save it as? The default is .xlsx for my Excel, but I see on the one you have attached it is .xls. Just makin' sure whether or not that matters on your end or not.

It shouldn't matter. If you can save it in .xls it might be easier on me but I think I can work with .xlsx as well.

Yeah, when I attach it(my sample excel spreadsheet), it says it is in .xlsx which is not accepted. I don't understand why it would not be in .xls form, which is the standard spreadsheet format. I am wondering if it has something to do with me having a bootleg copy.

You said you have Office 07, and .xlsx is its standard format. You have to go to Save As and tell it to save as an Office 97-03 spreadsheet (drop down choice below where you select the file path to save it) in order for it to save as an .xls, if that's what the system wants.
