Kent has a new AD and he seems determined to develop the football program. Since I'm a KSU grad, I get all kinds of material from the university. The most immediate issue is that they are trying to get people in the stands. We have to average 15,000 at home games to qualify for Div. I-A (or whatever they call it now) status.

There is no question that the coach is on the hot seat. I think the only way he can keep his job is for Kent to get to a bowl this year.

I was really disappointed to see Kent schedule a Thursday night game the same night as Ohio State vs Marshall. I really am a proponent of Kent scheduling weeknight games, but with the point being to get some attention away from Ohio State especially.

Kent seems to have a lot of talent coming back...

I was also disappointed to see that Kent will not be in one of the 6 MAC games that STO is televising this year

That Thursday night game will really hurt attendance because I understand that the OSU game will be televised. Kent is only aiming to get 15,000 people per game to satisfy NCAA requirements, but they aren't even going to get that on week one.

I can't believe that the MAC games Kent will play will not be televised, but the game with Penn State will be on ESPN. What gives?

Come on man show a little class.....Not everyone can be Ohio State in the state of Ohio. I really do hope Kent State gets back going. They have a incoming freshman from Canal Winchester who is supposed to be an animal..

hahah...it might be a little harsh, but really its the truth..probably the only D1 team worse than them is EMU..and Im aloud to be harsh, I go to Akron

If being bad is the cause for not being on TV, then explain why Miami is going to be on three times. They were far worse than Kent last year.

KSU has a good team coming back and we should go to a bowl. It will all depend on the coaching. I am not a member of the coach's fan club. If he doesn't produce this year, then we should send him packing.

Kent has a new AD who seems to have a better vision of Kent's athletic future. Now if he can just reintroduce ice hockey. We have a fine facility and it's a sport we could excel in just like Miami U has done.

Miami U. always gets a lot of air time because they have a number of alumni living in large metro areas on the east coast and in Chicago. They probably have the smallest percentage of Ohio residents of any university in the state.

As an Ohio school, I wish Kent well. I wonder though how long it will be until certain schools with football attendance under 20,000 get booted to the FCS or form their own division separate from the schools in the current "Big 6 Football Conferences". Particularly with the rumblings of superconferences looming on the horizon.

The thing that is saving the MAC's place in big-time football is the need for the big schools to get six wins so they are eligible for a bowl. Why shouldn't Penn State play Kent this year? PSU will sell out and make lots of money. They will also probably beat us which will give them a win towards a bowl bid (not that they necessarily need it). And if my understanding is correct, next year Ohio State will play three MAC teams. Again, three sell-outs and lots of money. And look at Michigan and Penn State. They have both lost in this decade to Toledo. The patsies don't always turn out the way the big schools expect.

The Ohio States, Michigans, Penn States, and Notre Dames of this world should never play MAC teams. They should play all teams on their own level. But they don't want to. As long as Ohio State continues to schedule Bowling Green and teams like Marshall, these respective conferences will continue to exist as Div. I-A (or whatever they call it now).
