This is really preliminary as I am just in the phone interview stage for the job but I always like to plan ahead. I'm interviewing for a position that will be located downtown Cincy and was curious about what areas of town are good to live in should this opportunity work out. Will be able to afford a 750-900 rent range so keep that in mind when providing any neighborhoods or parts of town. Thanks for the help folks!

Is Indian Hills still a nice place to live?

You probably won't get the job.

As far north of Cinci as you can get. This quote from Wikipedia should tell you about Indian Hill:

The median income for a household in the city was $158,742, and the median income for a family was $179,356.

Places to live: Over the Rhine, East Price Hill, Norwood

Places to avoid: Indian Hill, Hyde Park, Montgomery, Mt. Adams, Mt. Lookout, Oakley

But really..

Indian Hill is primarily middle aged very well off families, probably the nicest area of the city in my opinion.
Hyde Park is very nice and much younger, I'd vote for this.
Montgomery is very nice.
Mt. Lookout and Mt. Adams areas don't seem very cheap to me but I'm not certain of that.
Oakley is nice as well if the Hyde Park prices scare you off.

Don't be so hard on Norwood. The southern part by Xavier is all college students, so the houses are shitty because the landlords are all assholes and don't keep up with anything. The middle of Norwood has some decent places, and some areas I wouldn't really want to be at after dark. And then there's the northern part of Norwood where the streets are quiet, houses are taken care of, and people are really nice. I live in the northern part by Indian Mound and the houses are great and the neighborhood is awesome. So not all of Norwood is crappy.



Since moving to Cincy in '03, I've lived in an apartment just off Xavier's campus in the southern part of Norwood...a 2 bedroom apartment that was really nice in Oakley...a 2 bedroom apartment that was EXTREMELY nice and a little more expensive in the Columbia/Tusculum area...and now own a house in the northern part of Norwood.

If you're looking to stay close to downtown but stay in a nice area, Hyde Park and Oakley are going to be your best bets. Columbia/Tusculum and Mt. Lookout are also really nice areas, and an easy commute to downtown by just shooting right down rte 50. Mt. Adams is a nice area, but the parking there sucks, and it's a bitch to get around those hills in the winter time.

I know Norwood isn't all that bad where I am, I'm about 2 blocks from Rookwood though so about as north as you can get.

If you're two blocks from Rookwood...you are about as far SOUTH and east as you can get in Norwood.

Well no wonder I talk badly about it, I don't even realize where I am. Its nice for college, but Hyde Park where I mooched off the ex girlfriend was a much nicer life.

LOL. Ya, I think you're grouping Evanston (the area right across the street from Dana's) in with Norwood.

But I agree...Hyde Park is a nicer area. It's usually tough to find off street parking though for apartments in Hyde Park...unless you're paying a boat load.

Duh that makes sense now that I actually try to think about it, go north on Montgomery and you have the police and fire station.

I have a few people who got apartments in Evanston. I refuse to go and see them, they don't realize why.
