The first hit in this game by either team was a grand slam in the bottom of the 6th

(the bases were loaded via a walk, catcher's interference, and another walk)

Pitched by a pitcher traded for Edwin Jackson and hit by a player who was also traded by Edwin Jackson. Not the same trades.

My thoughts exactly. It just isnt exciting unless its your team. I was really disinterested for Edwin Jacksons No-no earlier this year.

I think he was kidding based on the perfect games being thrown and watering down all the no hitters this season.

An interesting idea to consider: I'm pretty sure it was Mike Greenberg I heard a while back saying that MLB banned a amphetimine prior to the season ("greenies" to be specific). His theory was that this is not so much the 'roids crackdown to blame for the no no's and perfecto's this season. A team on the road or just returning home gets caught sleepwalking (can't get up like they would in the past), all at the same time, and mix in a hot pitcher who's got the stuff that night and bingo.

Why wouldn't it be?

MESSAGE BOARD LESSONS FOR THE UNEDUCATED:

1. Message boards thrive on traffic.
2. Traffic comes from people posting on threads.
3. Therefore, threads should be created, particularly when something that's not a common feat happens.
4. Such as a no-hitter. Seems like this is at least the 20th post on the thread, so apparently some people have no issue with a thread being created.
5. If you have such a concern with what threads people create, perhaps you should create a "Only Create Threads About These Topics" thread. Because I'm sure that would generate more traffic than simple, random complaints on existing threads. And I'm sure more traffic would make Justin more happy than more attempts to drive down traffic by insisting certain threads are unnecessary just because YOU don't care.

The Tigers are pretty much the Mud Hens right now with Ordonez, Inge and Guillen on the DL, and Damon battling a stomach illness. It will take some extreme luck for them to stay in this pennant race with those guys hurt.

Man, didn't realize they were that decimated. I knew a couple of guys were out, but not essentially half their offensive starters (including Damon). Big thing in their favor is that the AL Central, like the NL Central, is loaded with teams ranging from "bad" to "good, but..." without any juggernauts. As long as they can weather the storm and not plummet, they'll still have a solid chance. At least if their young pitchers can exhibit consistency. Having a guy like Portiallo (I think I completely botched his name, but you know...) go from having a strong 2009 to struggling this year and spending time in the minors definitely doesn't help the cause.

It was a joke.......

Nice job wasting your time trying to act like a clever smart ass (OMG 5 bulleted rules!! Way to go dude!). Maybe if you think before you post, you would realize there were 3 perfect games this year (yes i count galaraga's) and I am SARCASTICALLY poking fun at the fact that no-hitters are inferior to perfect games. Maybe you should educate yourself, before you try to categorize anyone into the group of the uneducated. Nice fail.

Sarcastically? I'll take your word on it, as there's no real way to discern that from just reading the post, but whatever. I had fun trying to act like a clever smart ass, which is all that really matters when it all comes down. Speaking of that — actually, they were numbered rules. If they were bulleted rules, instead of "1", there would be a "•" symbol in front of them. Nice fail.
