My wife and I went out to dinner tonight at a local place that was celebrating Christmas in July along with the Great Lakes Brewing Company. They had Christmas Ale on tap tonight only and while supplies last. I had just one. (at $9).

Did anyone else celebrate today?

some people I know go to PIB every year for Christmas in July. I've never really done anything, but I will watch Christmas Vacation when it's on TV for christmas in july.

July 25th is exactly 6 months till Christmas, so it's Christmas in July, typically just a marketing ploy

I believe July 25 is exactly 5 months away from Christmas, not 6.

Sounds like another version of "Sweetest Day". In other words, another advertising ploy to get everyone to spend a lot of money on something because you will feel guilty if you don't. My Wife and I hardly celebrate birthdays, much less "Sweetest Day" and we seem to get along pretty well and have no guilty feelings about bypassing it.

I have buddies who have places in Port Clinton and they go over to PIB every weekend. They have enjoyed Christmas in July for many years. I believe the origins rose out of the fact that PIB is closed for the Christmas Season... so they celebrate it at the warmest time of the year. After all... we all call it "Disney Land for Drunks" LOL

They also have elaborate Halloween festivities I am told.

All I know is I had a Christmas Ale in July and got a free Great Lakes tee shirt. So all in all a successful outing

My family just got to PIB last night, so we avoided Christmas in July (thank goodness - we're not partiers). They do it on the island every year because you can't really do a big Christmas celebration on an island in Lake Erie in December. Everyone still had their lights on and decorations up yesterday though.

I didn't know it was $9 until the check came. Had I known I would have had a Budweiser.
