Good read. His going bazerk after being hit in the face was one of my all-time favorite baseball moments.....as was his getting called out on a bad pitch and then wiling dozens of bats onto the field in a fiery rage.

Those Expos teams developed some great players. Too bad they could never afford to keep their players.

It is too bad he had the knee problems. His MVP season after he went to Cubs was amazing, but I will always think of him as an Expo first. It is just too bad the economics of baseball forced the Expos to lose Dawson, Gary Carter, Tim Raines, and many other players.

His MVP season was absurd and the Expos definitely had some major talent get away from them. Unfotunately I was too young for it.

How the hell he got an MVP for that was indeed ridiculous.

Maybe it was the 49 HR and 137 RBI when no one was close to that

Thanks for sharing those lists. It's fun to see some of the names from the 80's Dawson was certainly deserving, and it may have helped to have two Cardinals splitting votes. How did Doc Edwards get a vote for manager of the year after going 30-45?

If they had to have a "Doc", I'd have taken Doc Gooden. Unfortunately, the tribe got him about a decade too late.
