So my buddy texted me today and invited me to a "diaper party." When did this tradition begin? I kind of get the appeal but it was still shocking to hear that men are now throwing baby showers lol. I guess it gives the guys an excuse to get away from their families and hang out.

Better use any reason you can come up with now! Once the baby arrives you will have no time.
Although I've never heard of a guy having a "baby shower". LOL

Yeah. Guys hanging out = cool. Guys having a baby shower = being a fan of Coldplay = U No How I No Ur Ghey. I mean...if it's just him telling his significant other it's a male baby shower, so she doesn't expect the inevitable hookers and blow, that's cool...but tell him to lay off that shit around you guys. Sweet Jebus!!!

Unless it is a covert excuse for guys to get together and drink beer, your buddy's man card should be revoked.
If he brings up anything about the latest in "onesie" baby jumpsuits, you need to shun your buddy.

Unless your a parent "onesies" has nothing to do with a baby jumpsuit. HAHAHAHA
Sad to say but you did not need to add "baby jumpsuit" for me to understsand.
On a side note. Most of the posters on this site have propably worn them! LOL

Ha well the last text he sent me said "I can't wait to get drunk." So my guess is that it's just an excuse to get together with the guys and drink.

Way to bail yourself and him out too. (if there even was a "I can't wait to get drunk" text) I guess you both saved your man cards, or you sticking up for him saved them. I know if you've ever seen 'teh internets' when it comes to diaper parties, lets just say its usually not the women wearing them.
Have fun on your get drunk thingy, diaper party stuff !!! Hopefully there will be strippers and if that's the case post some pics !!!

It's nothing but a scam to get more free stuff from people. Since when do guy friends get invited to baby showers, anyway (well, since someone figured out it's more people to browbeat into giving you free shit)? And, damn, people have engagement parties now (which the bridal party is supposed to spring for)?
It's not enough we have to shell out for the bullshit Valentine's and Sweetest days....now we have to pony up for baby showers, too!

This all may be a thinly veiled attempt to allow "the boys" another opportunity for a one night drunk fest that can be excused away as a "diaper party" or whatever, but if it's a "whatever", I would say it may be necessary to take a real shower when you get home and do it quickly. I wouldn't take the shower at the "party". (Unless that type of thing appeals to you...)

My wife is due in 3 weeks and we had a 'diaper party' a couple weeks ago at my brother's house....6-7 people came, ate, played wiffleball home run derby, wii, etc.
Just a reason to get together, it's not really ghey.

This has been in vogue now for a while. It's a way to rake in more "gifts" (a/k/a diapers). Anyway, this is a legit thing that's going on and the guys will get together, play poker, who just hang out and have a bbq and drink a few beers (but bring along a bag of diapers). This is nothing new that has just creeped up. It's pretty common.

This is something done quite regularly in my area as well for males - called "diaper parties", everyone brings a pack or box of diapers to the party. Pretty much a reason for the guys to get together, drink beer, play cards, etc. I didn't have to buy diapers for a year after my party 2 years ago - it was great! Whoever started this for men is a genius.

This is the queerest thing I've heard of in a long time. I don't care if you had porn stars giving BJs at this thing...just calling it a "diaper party" makes it super queer.

Man, i didnt know people hated diaper parties this much. Ive been to a couple over the last 2 years and they've all been a good time. Drink, eat, play cornhole, horseshoes, poker. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me only having to bring diapers. Not sure what the whole "scam" with it is.

This sounds alright. The ones I hate are being invited to a kids first, second or third birthday parties, which are nothing but excuses for a gift-grab.

I went to one. Everybody walked in, tossed a package of diapers in the floor and commenced to getting sloshed. It was a good time.

I think I'll leave this up to my husband. On one hand you get free diapers. On the other you have to provide food, drinks, etc to a bunch of dudes. Could just use that money and buy your own diapers. But that isn't as much fun.

Someone throws the party, not the dad to be.
It's another excuse to drink, just like Cinco de Mayo, St. Patty's Day, etc....
I've heard of a few of them.

I had one for our baby. (Well, my brother-in-law threw one). Guys come to play poker, drink beer, shoot the shit, watch sports. Ours was during bowl games. Admission was diapers.

It's better than the other option, a couples shower. For some reason, my friends think every bridal/baby shower needs to be a couples shower. I don't even like going to them. I hate to think how the poor bastards who have to come with their wives/girlfriends feel.

If I want to have my buddies come over and drink I will. You can keep the diapers.
