I need some advice. I had computer problems so they just gave me a new one with similiar bells and whistles. My monitor is an HP w1907 and my tower is an Asus cm5671-05. I had conerns as to whether they were compatible with each other, the Best Buy KID assured me that they were. Nothing is coming up, but yet when I connect my monitor with my laptop it works. I'm thinking that those two just aren't compatible. I've been trying to look it up but havn't found anything. Does anybody know if those two are compatible with each other? Thanks for any knowledge guys.

As long as the video card is compatible...which more than likely...it is, you will be fine. Are you using a DVI or VGA hookup?

I tried both. Neither one worked.

Does this have on-board video? Graphics card? It's possible one is disabled in the BIOS.

That would be my first thought but he said he tried both? Monitors aren't typically "compatible" with a PC. As long as you have the correct connection it should work.

Everyone above is correct. Typically monitors aren't compatible or not compatible.

Can you try a different monitor to see if that one works? Since the monitor works with your laptop we know it still works. I'm guessing your new video card is bad.

One other thing I've run into is an on-board video card and another vid card installed on the same system. The on-board was disabled but wasn't paying attention when plugging the monitor in. Took me awhile to notice the vid card.
