In a special press conference on ESPN, Coach llucas, with the athletic director of Arkansas by his side, stated that "This past season has been a disappointment to myself, the football team, the fans, and everybody else involved with the program. I have sat down with the athletic director and we both agree that losing is not acceptable. However, we both have acknowledged that the Razorbacks competed in just about every one of their games and could have easily been 8-4. With all of our impact players, including the starting running back, top 3 receivers, and most of the O-line returning, we believe that we can build off of this year and possibly compete for the SEC Championship next year. I have been given another year and another chance to be the head coach of the Razorbacks." During the press conference, a reporter from the Norman (Oklahoma) Times asked Coach llucas about the rumors going around about Oklahoma being interested in hiring him after their disappointing season. Coach llucas replied, "I am the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks."
