Miller Ferry.

$6.50 one way, $13 round-trip. Leaves Catawba Island every 30 minutes and it only takes 18 minutes to get to the island. There is also free parking within walking distance of the dock.

There are two drawbacks however. The ferry doesn't go downtown so you either need to walk about a mile-and-a-half or take a cab for $2.50 a person (which even taking a cab into town and back is still cheaper than taking the Jet). The other drawback is that the last ferry leaves the island at 9:30pm, so if you aren't staying the night on the island then you have to leave early, if you are staying the night though then that shouldn't be a problem.

This is all true. You either want to have a daytime party or find somewhere to spend the night.

I spent the night in a barn up there one night. Slept on the ground on a lawn cushion. LOL.

I would actually like to recommend that if you were planning on making it a single day trip that you consider getting a hotel room (if they aren't all booked) or reserving a camp site in the state park. If you're all planning on doing a lot of drinking then you definitely want to stay on the island because the cops are always looking for drunk drivers coming off the boat.

I'll actually be up at PIB this weekend at my family's cottage for a bachelor party, although we won't be doing much drinking because we're going to Cedar Point the next day.

The Jet is the only one that goes to Put-in-Bay. Miller goes to South Bass Island. You'll need to get a cab to PiB

I'll be heading to PIB in August too! Staying with an islander so the stay-over isn't an issue. Have fun!

Thanks for the advice everyone. We do have a hotel on the island to stay at (just got it yesterday) so no late night trips back for us.

My wife and I were talking the other day about getting on the Jet and going over since we've never gone on it. it sounds like we will have quite a bit of walking to do. Oh well, we really don't have any reason to hurry.

We'll be staying at the perry holiday hotel, how much of a walk would that be from the landing point that miller ferry drops you off at compared to where the jet ferry drops you off at?

It's about a mile farther away from the Miller dock than the Jet dock.

Just remember, the Jet is going to cost you $28 round trip and you'll likely have to pay for parking in Port Clinton and have to walk almost a mile to get to your hotel.
The Miller will be $18 round trip including round trip taxi service to and from the hotel and you'll be able to park at the dock on Catawba for free, or $13 round trip if you hoof it the 2 miles to your hotel.

Also, if you left on either boat at the same time you'd end up at your hotel sooner taking the Miller because it takes a MUCH shorter route to PIB.

Just got back...first time at PiB. Great time. Paid $13 round trip for Miller Ferry, and then $3 for a taxi to the hotel.

Was anybody else there this weekend? We stayed at Islander Inn

My wife and I have been over to Kelly's Island several times and always have a good time over there. We took the ferry and used our car while we were there. Interesting little knick-knack shops, pretty good food, some interesting historic stuff and since I'm a history teacher by profession that kind of thing appeals to me. We want to take the Jet but as yet we never have. I think that's why we want to. Plus, we have never been over to PIB and we think it would be fun. Maybe in the next couple of weeks we can check that one off our list?
