Just curious if any of the FANS of MMA train in BJJ or other martial arts?

I will probably start going to a gym within a year. Not sure how many there are near me though.

I wrestled throughout my schooling and for a few years after we'd do free style we would practice grappling and submissions/striking/what have you. Obviously can't replace a good gym and instructor but I think we did it in a fairly decent way and I know I learned a lot.

That's awesome. At the Relson Academy I am doing Jiu-jitsu 4 days a week. And on Saturdays we have a Judo Instructor who is a 7th degree black belt. I will do some judo to incorporate it into my BJJ.

Train GI BJJ 2x a week, No-gi fridays, and muay thai M,W,F. Sometimes on mondays I will go to a judo class. Wrestled (now a coach) for 15 years.

I train at TAMA Martial Arts in Dayton, we're a Lloyd Irvin school.

Very nice resume Tiny!! My school has Muay Thai a couple days a week. I am not doing it though. I really want to focus on BJJ. I have a background in TKD and a little wrestling.

I don't to much kicking or anything. Trying to focus on my hands more than anything else. I am great in a body lock, and have really good top jiu jitsu. But my frame doesn't allow for a great guard game. My lockdown is pretty damn nice though lol

yes. I have short . muscular legs. so not a good closed guard at all. I prefer half guard.

Story from last week. I was working with a high school kid who trains mma at a gym. He talked about it all weekend. I ended up telling him that I wrestled and that ended up in him wanting to grapple a bit. He wasn't very good at body control (ie: he probably never wrestled before doing mma) and I ended up catching him with a pretty basic omoplata from guard.

/cool story.

Also, anyone with any recomendations for gyms in the Alliance/Salem area?

I know of that one. Isn't it called Ohio BJJ or something like that?

Was hoping there was something closer but maybe I'll just start going before/after classes at YSU or something.
