Johnny Cueto ( 8 - 2 ) 3.56 ERA Vs. Kyle Kendrick ( 5 - 3 ) 4.70 ERA

Reds: 49 - 37
Phillies: 43 - 40

Reds currently hold a 3 game lead over St. Louis and it could possibly be 3 1/2 by the time the Reds game starts and the Cardinals game is over w/ Colorado sending out Jimenez

Like I said on the vbookie thread.

I think this game will set the tone for the series. If the Reds win tonight, I think they take 3 of 4.

I like the Reds, 6-3.

Cueto and Kendrick faced off when the Phillies were in Cincinnati last week. I see the same result.

The Reds hit him pretty hard if I remember correctly. I see them getting to him again.

The pitching match-up heavily favors Cincinnati. As it does tomorrow with Leake going against Blanton. However, it doesn't favor Cincy this weekend with Wood and Maloney going against Halladay and Hamels. Therefore, tonight's game is VERY important. The Phillies are prime to really explode or cave in before the break and this is a huge series for them with the way Atlanta and New York have played.

The Phillies without Utley and Polanco and Werth and Ibanez not quite as good....not the same punch....but I certainlly wouldn't count them out.

THe Reds offense may need to step up again this series.

WHY?? Heisey hit a homer last night, and you decide to give Gomes a breather... so what do you do? You start Laynce Nix. Obviously. smh

Did anybody else see the screen go red with VT and Yosemite Sam graphic after Nix struck out?

No, but I saw the screen go black when Joey was admiring his shot as Chris Welsh says, "Votto never admires his shot".

BP is really locked in every at bat lately, not giving any easy outs. Hopefully he can extend his hitting streak next time up.
