I just got back from Zoombezi bay (Columbus area water park) and was really surprised to see the number of bad tattoos that people have. I figure Walmart is selling a do it yourself home tattoo kit or there are some very unartistic people fronting as tattoo artists. I have no problem with a good tattoo but why would someone allow their 5 year old to ink them up?

You have to research an artist just like you would anything else. Maybe you saw an ex-con, prison tattoos definately look bad.

I also wonder why people tattoo the name of their GF/BF, what happens if they split up?

I have a tattoo that was originally drawn by a 5-10 year old. Of course, I had my artist clean up the lines a bit. I did have him replicate the crayon effect.

my artist used to be one of the top artists in the country in the mid-late 90's. Something like 27 cover pieces on tattoo magazine. Then he semi-retired and only worked random times ( I got lucky and he happened to be there and liked the design) then all of a sudden disappeared off the face of the earth lol

This wasn't just one tattoo. It was a lot. My 11 year old asked loudly if this woman had a tattoo or if someone wrote on her back in pen. It looked like a legit prison tat, her name, 3 other words and some scribble in the middle. The first of many bad tattoo today.

One time at Long's Retreat (you out there SE Alum?) we were hanging out by the lake and some dude walked by with "S E X" tattooed down his leg and it looked like it was done with sharpie. Probably one of the worst tats i have ever seen

Tattoos are a matter of personal taste. To me, even a good tattoo is a bad one. That's just me and I understand that many people like them. If you do, great! Go for it. Our vet assistant is a terrific girl that has wall to wall tattoos. She is wonderful with the animals and is as kind and gentle as any person I have ever met. I have never judged a person negatively because they have tattoos. I just don't think that they are attractive and I prefer the "blank canvas" look.
