2. Rio Bravo
3. The Searchers
4. El Dorado

Then there are a bunch about the same. Hondo, Chisum, etc.

Yeah, except they played the same ones over and over. The Cowboys, The Shootist and some of the war films. Still good.

My favorite is the Quiet Man by far. Also Rio Bravo, The Alamo, and McClintock are up there on my list of favs. But since I like him, I don't think there's any of his movies I don't like!

I am a huge fan, there is another one nobody has mentioned that I really like. "Bells of St. Mary's", he is a football coach for a small Catholic college. One of his funniest rolls ever.

The Shootist for me. He plays an aging gun man and it was filmed while Wayne was older and toward the end of his career. I always saw a parallel between the character he played and the real John Wayne.

Being a long ago active-duty Marine, I have to go with Sands of Iwo Jima as my first pick, but being a chick means I also loved The Quiet Man and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.

Truth be known I was never a huge John Wayne fan. (go ahead and take my man card) I do remember him in a lot of movies my Dad watched when I was a kid, but the first thing that came to my mind was The Green Berets. I have watched that movie many of times.
