HATE people who just stay in the left lane on a four lane highway (interstate) and just cruise. Set your damn cruise control, pass the cars you come up to, move back to right lane.

To me, the let lane is for passing only. What say you?

Agreed, it is for passing only. If you are driving faster than all the cars to your right then go ahead and cruise in that left lane, but if someone faster comes up behind you get over and let them by. If the right lanes are completely open then cruise in the middle or right lane.

In Illinois where I lived for a few years it's actually illegal to drive in the left lane, you can only;y get over to the left to pass. Besides, it's not safe to pass on the right. This is why we have way more accidents on our freeways than they do on the Autobahn in Germany even though they're going twice as fast.

gotta' be the biggest pet peeve I have...assholes driving in the left lane either the same as or slower than the flow of traffic--it drives me NUTS!!!!

What drives me nuts is the ones that can't use cruise control. You pass them (while they're in the left lane) while on your cruise control, then they come zooming by you to pass you, then a few miles down the road, you're passing them again.

Drove to Knoxville and back last weekend. I almost always have my cruise set. I can't tell you how many times some idiot passed me, then pulled over into my lane and slowing down forcing me to pass him 2 miles later....all while I still had the cruise on.

If they're going 65, they aren't doing anything wrong, it's illegal to pass at speeds above the limit

I mostly agree with you. Sometimes I'll cruise in the left lane, but I always get over if someone is coming up behind me.

I can't stand people who mess up my cruise control! I don't care if they go faster or slower than me, but they can at least stay the hell out of the way.

Also, if I have enough room to pass someone on the right, they should have got the hell over.

no, its because we have undisciplined drivers. it has nothing to do with passing on the right(PA is the same as Illinois), i wonder if you compare them and Ill. to Ohio what the stats would be. you also cant talk on a cell phone or do anything else while driving. the laws are much stricter and heavier in Germany, that is why there are less accidents. they even use cameras to enforce the laws on the highway. my god there would be a revolution if we ran our highways like they did in Germany.

This. if i am going 65 in the left lane and look like i will be passing someone in a minute or 2, i dont care if you are going 95, you can wait until i finish passing.

all the lanes are equal in ohio unless otherwise posted and it's perfectly legal to pass on the right. if people would stop thinking they own the left lane because they are going faster(99% of time over the speed limit) then we wouldnt have these issues.

plus people dont realize sometimes you have to be in the left lane. if there are a lot of on/off ramps etc, traffic is going to be smoother when the through traffic stays left and allows people to enter and exit the freeway with ease. instead when you force everyone to the right, you have assholes in the left lane flying by everyone then cutting accross one or two lanes and weaving in between traffic to exit.
