I mean, once, yeah it happened before. Twice, unprecedented but ok. Three years in a row?!?
I agree it's failure. But, how do you get to 60?
No one here know how.

You can't strong arm 60, it's been tried.

It is hard to get to 60 to agree on something when there is no limit to the powers you have. They can do whatever they want like dictators.

Back when they at least used to pretend to care about the rule of law their options were much more limited, and compromise more possible.

Might start with the POTUS showing some leadership submitting a budget that compromises on both sides. But he's not doing that.

And it's 51 votes to pass a budget, 60 for cloture. Reid and Obama aren't even trying. "Hey, look, we've got a budget, we've got the support....Repubs won't shut-up so we can vote". You really let them off the hook that easy? There was plenty of rhetoric and finger-pointing over the debt-ceiling, but Obama & Reid don't really seem all that concerned with passing a budget, much less a balanced one. They don't want a paper trail for all the blank checks they're writing.

You're right, we can't fire them all. But we can fire at least one. It's a crisis of leadership, and #$@*!#$ Nevada should have given Reid the boot in 2010.

Under the Senate rules now, anything major, like a budget is near impossible.
No one party wants to move, compromise, give and take. As a result, the Senate passes CR after CR, with small budgets done each year (DOD, intell, DHS).

Good luck to whoever is President next, as I doubt any one party will get 60 votes. Getting anything done budget wise and debt wise with compromise will be impossible.
If I'm not mistaken, budgets are not allowed to be filibustered. So he only needs 51 votes.

The headline is 8.3% unemployment. In '04 Bush would be impeached, in '12 Obama is lauded. This country deserves to fail.

And this one bothers me immensely :Energy Secy: I don't own a car

This is obviously a liberal elitist, anti-fossil fuel advocate of public transportation who is completely out of touch with 95% of America, and is literally hoping for, and managing to, $8 gas. And that is exactly the type of person that obama has put in place in every department, every bureaucracy, and every czar position. It sort of sums it all up.

And the mainstream media continues to bury it.

Change we can believe in .....

Yeah, but fortunately no matter how much the MSM tries to ignore it, voters know the economy sucks when they go to vote.

My biggest concern with Romney, more than anything, is the class warfare game and how MSM is really going to cast him as the media. They've already started a bit with his private equity background - oh, wait, you mean it's NOT just like that movie Wall Street?!?

God forbid this country elect someone who's been SUCCESSFUL in the real world and has some practical understanding and experience with business and economics....as opposed to the career community organizer presiding over the worst economy in nearly a century.

Reconciliation....since it's supposed to be used for budgetary matters instead of healthcare bills, I'd start there...since the precedent has already been set and all. Sorry, but the "wah, can't get to 60" argument was slapped down early on by that event.

The fact remains that Harry simply doesn't want his name on anything that would be as ugly as what would come out of that vote. If that wasn't the case, he'd at least make a show of some effort.

Yeah I noticed this too. I remember a time not long ago when anything above 5% was cause for alarm for any incumbent POTUS. Now the Obama-loving MSM wants everyone to celebrate because the rate has dropped from 9% to 8.3%.

This crap never ceases to amaze me.

8.3% is the government's number for unemployment. The true number is 13-14+%.

It's HILARIOUS to see his supporters pointing to GWB as a basis of their argument of why Obama will be re-elected. GWB - the POTUS these people HATED passoinately and called one of the worst, if not THE worst, Presidents in US history. That is now their standard for Obama.

And the simple fact of the matter is that the economy is not nearly in the toilet in 2004 that it is now. Much worse, in fact, than even 1992 when incumbent HWB looked like a lock for re-election.

Then Obama will make history in November, being the first American President to be re-elected with the unemployment rate above 8%.

Pipeline? Did you say pipeline? We don't need no stinkin' pipeline. We just need to start using gubmint mass transit and all is well.

This post here exemplifies the reasons why I would love to see Romney win. Absolutely love it. Somehow Romney will wave his magic "business success" wand and voila! The unemployment problem disappears, government growth stops, the national debt descends and Iran quits making nuclear bombs.

Does anyone really think those things will happen?

Then, when none of those things happen, the traditional GOPers will all be in defense mode. I remember it well....from 03 to 08.

8.3% unemployment is definitely horrible. In fact worse than horrible. And what makes it worse, the N.D. has increased almost 6 trillion with government expansion which is truly mind boggling.

With that said, I don't recall the "main stream" media lauding Obama for these numbers. Just the opposite. There are reasons why Obama's job performance is at 45%. And the 2 I listed are the primary reasons why.

As for Bush's impeachment, if they didn't impeach him for the unbelievable debacle called Iraq, implementing torture, $hitcanning the writ of habeous corpus, et al, then they sure as hell wouldn't impeach him for sky high unemployment numbers, just sayin.

One of the advantages of falling in line with most libertarian views and labeled a Paulbot is that, no matter which side is in power, I can bitch and moan without a worry. Life's great.
