TNT is about to take the next big step in video broadcasting a 3-D television picture and will use Daytona International Speedway as its guinea pig.
TNT will broadcast the July 3 Coke Zero 400 in high definition and transmit a separate signal using 3-D technology the first time a NASCAR race has gone three dimensional.
How To Get It
In order to see 3-D, you must have 3-D technology in your home, either on a computer with a high-speed connection or a television with a DIRECTV hookup, plus 3-D glasses.
Fans can go to www.nascar.com/racebuddy3D to get more information about the hardware and software needed to view the 3-D production online. Turner expects the 3-D audience to be in the "tens of thousands." As a Turner spokesperson said, "This is much like the first HD broadcast audience."
I'll be seeing it in 3D but not on tv.

3D tv sets are not getting good reviews yet. Most of them are causing nausea....I will wait for the technology to advance for a couple more years.

Of course they are. It's a sucker bet. You have to buy a brand new TV plus must have 3D glasses for anyone watching that TV in order for the 3D to work. It's a pure money grab.

The race was one of those memorable sports moments, I don't care if you are a fan or not. ( I was never a 3 fan.)

If they wanted to make a big splash, do you honestly think Nascar is the biggest "sport" they could of chose to broadcast? And to top it off its not even the biggest race of the Nascar season, just another left turn marathon on sunday.GoChiefs;409799 wrote:Naive or just uninformed?

Yes, b/c basketball in 3D would be so great to watch wouldn't it? And actually..it's Daytona..it is one of the bigger races of the season.

Basketball and Football Id bet would draw more viewers, but It cant be proven so oh well. Yes its one of the bigger, but not the biggest of the season. TNT doesn't broadcast football. And of course it's not the biggest at the track...considering the other is the Super Bowl of NASCAR, you can't get bigger. Lol But they didn't wanna sit on it until next February I'm sure. It's still one of the 5 biggest races of the year.

Hb31187, look at the photo gallery and think of that at 185mph coming at you in 3-D, or basketball. Nascar can place cameras anywhere. Football is a greater sport, but strictly human vs. the 43 cars on a track. For a tv 3D deal, Nascar makes sense. You do not.
