How many Reds will be all-stars this season?
Anyone who is voted in or selected will be a correct answer.
So if Votto, Phillips and Rolen make it but Votto is a late scratch and is replaced by Gomes...then the answer is 4...even if Rolen, Gomes or Phillips decide not to play.

They have 5 guys that should be locks, but I doubt they all make it.

The five you mention, Justin, are the five I look at as legit "should be in" guys. BUT 1B is a crapshoot to pick with all the perennially respected studs, relievers who don't close rarely get picked and despite having a great year, I doubt Gomes is really that known as anything more than a guy who's had a great near-half-season. I think he deserves it, but I can see him being passed over for a bigger name.

Rolen will, Phillips and Votto.....good chance, Rhodes...how can he not?...and Gomes is as high as 50/50

If Rhodes, who has a quarter of a point ERA and a record 33 straight innings pitched w/out giving up a run doesn't make the all star team, I will lose a lot of faith in my favorite sport.

Yeah....non-starters and closers have made it multiple times over the past 10 years...no one has been better than Rhodes

I can't........the game is still 4 days away......what if Matt Holliday is injured and Jonny Gomes is the replacement?
I settled the other night in the 9th inning at midnight and St Louis was up 9-3.......they lose 12-9......my luck is infamous......and someone else will drop out of that game between now and the game.....depending on the position who knows who might be added....hello Omar Infante

lol. I am obviously happy for Infante for getting added by Manuel and I am also a little surprised he was selected. But if you think about it, he was selected mostly due to the flexibility Manuel will have with him on the bench in a possible tight All Star Game. With homefield advantage going to the winning league and the Reds (as well as the Braves and Phillies) having World Series aspirations, you and other Reds fans should be pleased with Manuel's thinking here.
