Always get the kids? Serious question... If a man and woman have a fight, the woman says, "I'm taking the kids and going to (insert relative's name)." The woman, for the most part, gets to decide where the kids go, etc. In divorce, too, I've only known of a couple guys that have gotten custody of their children b/c the mom was a POS. What's the deal?

They are USUALLY the one responsible for the day to day care of the children, so it's easier.

Yes, but why is it allowed? In a fight, why can a woman say, "I'm taking the kids and going to moms!" but if a guy said that, he'd probably be called in for kidnapping.

Our society and the laws in place make the female the default custodial parent unless her ability to care for the kids is proven otherwise

Plus, chances are the husband was being a huge dick to begin with.

Typically, women tend to be much more involved in the childrens day to day care and activities. Most fathers do not get as involved.

I understand about the involvement thing. But, if the wife chooses to leave the house where both reside, why does she automatically get to take the kids with her, and uproot them out of their home? If the husband is the one leaving, he doesn't even get the option of taking the kids.

He might not be charged with kidnapping but his buddies would definitely call him a huge pussy and revoke his Man Card for a significant period of time.

Also, I think culturally we have changed in the last thirty years or so.... more than the court system. The decisions always used to be made with our old family set-up where the Father was the bread winner and the Mother was the primary caretaker of the children. But if this case goes to court, most judges favor the kids to be with their Mothers.

The legal system is lagging behind our cultural diversity now in that most mothers also share in being the bread winner... and many times make more money than the fathers. Unless a Mother has addictions or issues with the legal system... Momma is going to get the kids.

I'm not saying that it is always this way or justifies the act, but let's face it, when a woman leaves it is usually because the man has done something wrong and takes the kids to protect them.

Why the courts still favor women in custody when it is even or in the favor of the man, baffles me. There is definitely something wrong with that and it needs fixed. Unfortunately, I think it will take at least one, and probably two, generations of judges to pass through before we start seeing custody rulings that don't inherently favor the woman.

Because having to deal with kids is a real impediment for the dude in hitting up the bars and bringing home skanks for a quick fuckeroo. Pfft...let her deal with "raising" a "family", I'll be happy snorting lines off a stripper's chest.

The whole breast feeding thing is awkward for most men.
