Rush: greatest rock band ever
I don't expect anyone to agree, but its certainly my opinion. Geddy Lee's voice will haunt your dreams.

Moving Pictures and 2112 really don't belong on the same show. Those two albums are from distinctly different periods in Rush's musical evolution. While 2112 was perhaps the first step to what they would eventually become, IMO it would be better suited to be teamed up with in a classical albums segment with Fly by Night or Farewell to the Kings. And Moving Pictures teams up better with Permanent Waves.

Agree whole heartedly... Caress of steel would have been a nice match with 2112 as well. The tune "I think I'm going bald" has become oh so much a reality for me. No thinking about it... LOL

I will be at Nationwide in August. Can't wait. They were the first "major" band I ever saw in concert in the late 70's.

you can order the dvd and other cool RUSH items here
http://www.rushbackstage.com/rushbackstage/index.html
Rush is one of rock's most influential bands. Ranked third in consecutive gold or platinum albums after The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, the band enjoys a devoted following by legions around the world and is revered by generations of musicians. Yet, their incredible success story has, up to this point, remained largely untold. Now comes the new documentary Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage, the first comprehensive exploration of the extraordinary power trio. Featuring never-before-seen archival footage and interviews with notables such as Jack Black, Billy Corgan, Trent Reznor, Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Kirk Hammett (Metallica) and Gene Simmons, this film explores the forty-year career and phenomenon behind what could be the world's biggest cult band. This 2-disc DVD in deluxe packaging features over 3 hours of video, including a 1.5 hour bonus disc of never-before-seen live performances, special features, and deleted scenes from the film. A 12 page color booklet of rare and unreleased photos is also included.

I don't believe there has been a lyricist who can say so much with so few words. Neil Peart's lyrics are actually quite simple but to the point.
Oh and did I mention he is like the best fucking drummer in the history of the world?

i think Permanent Waves is a really great album....
everything before was a little too esoteric...for most....
I love 'Moving Pictures'...but even I agree it was a blatant attempt at a mainstream sell-out.....
Neil Peart is one fantastic drummer, BTW.

Rush is without a doubt at the top of my all-time favorite bands. Distinctive, crisp, and intricate rock sound.
Lee's voice is a a love it or hate it thing. Ever since his singing style "haunted" me when 2112 came out, I've appreciated his talent. No doubt that Peart's drumming is top shelf in the progressive rock genre.
The fact that Rush continues to be snubbed by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame blows my mind.

My favortie band of all time. No one can match Geddy's voice or Neil's incredible ability to be a percussionist.

Saw Roll the Bones tour in Toledo in early '92. Peart was unreal. Came away with a great appreciation of Lifeson.

I wonder if this film is as good a story to a casual viewer as it is to me. I've seen them 10 times from Moving Pictures to Snakes and Arrows, and I'm in awe of how much I'm learning from this.

Great film. What was up with the Lifeson family I think I'll skip 12th grade footage. Not something most people think to record.

That is an opinion, especially to those women between the ages of 13 to 54.

Troll much? You have no idea in my taste in Music. I was listening to Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Infinity, Departure and Escape while your parents were probably still in junior high.
