Games on at 3:30 I believe.

Cueto going for the sweep against 2-1 Mazzuro..both have high ERAs.

Reds are a gmae behind the Cardinals, who have a hell of a matchup today...Carpenter (8-1) vs Romero (6-3).

^^^^

This. I'll probably tune in. Reds need to sweep and hope Romero comes up big against the Cards.

That's gotta be one of the worst lineups of the season lol so many things wrong with that lineup. I realize day games are a good time to rest some starters, but a sweep here would be VERY important to the psychee of this team.

Rolen is the only guy not in there and he hasn't had a game off in quite some time.

The backing off on Leake's innings is starting. According to John Fay:

Bronson Arroyo will start Sunday, the day Leake was scheduled. Leake will Tuesday against Philadephia.

The rotation: Friday — Aaron Harang; Saturday — Sam LeCure; Sunday — Arroyo; Monday — Johnny Cueto; Tuesday –Leake; Wednesday – Harang.

I've heard murmurs that they are going to back off Leake's innings by giving his spot in the rotation to Volquez and inserting Leake in the 'pen.

Leake is not going to the pen, neither is chapman. people who keep saying that are uninformed, Walt has all but confirmed it's not happening. Being in the pen is actually harder on your arm.

I'm glad they are doing it this way rather than just shut him down with 6 weeks left in the season. My guess is he will get about 2 weeks off in the time around the all star break.

Lol that is the worst rumor I've ever heard (leake to the bullpen). He is like 6-1 or something like that, and has pitched brilliantly, why would they move one of their best pitchers to the pen?

And dave..I meant moving Phillips out of the 2 hole for Cairo (lol) and Nix being in there.

Yeah that is so dumb. Should be OCab, BP, Votto, Gomes, etc with Cairo at #9. Or Cairo at 8 with Stubbs at 9 as a second leadoff hitter so to speak.

Anyone know of an online stream for the MLB Network broadcast?

What I heard is what it is, just a rumor.

However interestingly it does kind of get mentioned in a column on the Reds website. They don't specifically say Leake will go to the bullpen, but it did say this:
Edinson Volquez, who is scheduled to make a rehab assignment start Wednesday at Triple-A Louisville, is likely to be back with the Reds before the All-Star break. Could Volquez take some innings off of Leake's hands?

"I don't know yet," Baker said. "He's pitching pretty well and Volquez is throwing pretty good too. We have some decisions to make, but those are pretty good decisions."

Well now that I posted that, I see Walt did a complete 180 and they are using Chapman in the pen now. Just a week or two ago he said they didn't want to mess with him learning something different.

Yup. Chapman came out of the pen today for Volquez. Who is uniformed?

OCab continues to be just a warm body out there. Contributing nothing the past few weeks. 0-3 so far today with 2 Ks. Again, Janish could do that. If you're gonna leave OCab in there while he's still ailing, at least drop him from the leadoff spot. His OBP is dropping like a stone.

Willy Tavaras had a .275 OBP last year and the guy is one of the most vilified Reds ever.

Cabrera is at .277...ouch.

Jordo thinks a hurt OCab is better than a healthy Janish, lol.

I am one of "those" who think Orlando Cabrera is one of the most important players on this team...when he does well, the whole team seems to do well. The Reds have hit a bit of mediocrity lately and it has a lot to do with the leadoff hitter playing poorly.
