I am not a video game player. I have a regular xbox that I hadn't played much since my frosh year of college.

My roommate bought a PS3 and I decided to play the MLB baseball game today

Question, have I been out of the water too long or is this game not insanely difficult

My eyes hurt from one game of trying to thread the needle on every pitch I attempt, and the hitting? Holy buckets, I think I hate how difficult this game is. Makes me miss Nintendo. I played pretty high level baseball in real life, and this game makes me feel as if I have never played baseball before. I think I need to hide the game lest I go into violent fits of continual losing to the computer.

Lower the difficulty of hitting until you pick it up. You can also slow down the pitch speed if you're having trouble picking it up out of the pitchers hand.

This years did seem harder than previous versions, in this posters humble opinion.

Best baseball game ever made IMO. It can be difficult but that's why its so good. Just adjust your settings to where you are comfortable. I find it boring if its so easy that you win every game by 10. I like it to be a little tough. It makes it more realistic.

The Show is an amazing game. I've become pretty good, and when I start owning people, I up the difficulty level.

Franchise Mode is insane

I love the game, and yes it is difficult. Especially if you played the 2k versions beforehand. I used to have a 360 but when I went out and got the PS3 I went with the Show. It's an awesome game.

I have played 4 games now, have lost every one of them by shut out. 1-0, 3-0, 1-0, 7-0. I freaking hate how difficult it is. I can't time up pitchers to save my life. This a good time to retire permanently from video games and devote myself to more enjoyable pastimes.

side note, two of those games were lost by opposite field Skip Shumacker homeruns in the 8th or 9th. He wishes that he were able to go yard oppo in real life.

What settings are you using? I just beat the reds 6-3.

I'm curious too.

The game is difficult, but not difficult enough that you get shut out 4 games in a row.

and yes, sometimes you have your ratard moments, like a David Eckstein oppo blast or an Adam Everett oppo into an 19 MPH wind blast as well

Exact same situation for me. My xbox kept fluctuating between working and not working, so one day when it was working I decided to trade it in at gamestop and got over $200 for the system and my games, enough to buy my friends ps3 from him.

I then went out and promptly bought the show. Awesome awesome game.

the global settings were set to Legend hitting, and pitching was Hall of Fame.

my profile settings were set to Veteran and Veteran but, I never played under those settings because the dynasty I started was with global settings.

Those are tough. I usually start out with veteran and then up the sliders until I'm comfortable. It's not easy, but at the same time it's not impossible to score.

Legend is tough. You've pretty much gotta time it up and hit a bomb or forget about scoring anything

RBI for NES was the shit. Also there was a Robot Baseball game for NES that was sweet, also. Can't remember the name..if there was a close play at a base you had a fight and whoever won the call went their way.
