I don't know if this should be in the political forum or not, if so, some moderator please move it.

Anyway, this is a terrible idea. Can you image the distraction from ads on license plates? People already have enough distractions while driving, this will only compound the problem. It says the plates wouldn't "activate" until the car is stopped, but I wouldn't trust it. Not to mention, how are they going to know a car is stopped? Does this mean that someone will be able to look up a certain license plate and tell if they are driving or not?

Also, would anyone really want to use their personal vehicle as a platform for ads, some from places a person may not agree with? I wouldn't put one of these license plates on my car. Absolutely not. My personal vehicle is not government owned, at least not yet. No ads will be going on my car unless I agree prior and am getting a cut of the money. Such a stupid idea.

Agree or disagree?

The only way I would agree to those kind of plates is if my registration was covered in the price the advertiser paid. Why pay $60 or whatever for registration/plates and then be a billboard as well.

I think this would end up causing a lot of problems and potentially accidents, but I'd just be curious to see what the prototype would like like and what type of ads would show up on different people's cars

What if I was hit my a hit and run driver. When I checked for his/her plates, all I saw was an add for Ohiochatter.com?

Here's another scenario. My wife and I are driving in the car. We see the car in front of us and see the plate. We argue whether it is an Ohiochatter.com add or not. Meanwhile, I rear end the car in front of us.

Fail.
