Should the Big Ten conference stick with the name now that they have 12 teams as they did when they expanded to 11, or should they change the name? I assume that even if the Big XII changes their name now that they only have 10 teams the Big Ten couldn't use Big Twelve as their name. So if they should change it, and they can't use Big Twelve, what should the name be? Should they change it next year when Nebraska joins or just wait until they inevitably grow into a 16 team conference?

change it. no need to have the big ten when you have 12 teams (i always thought it was silly when they had 11 teams)

I like several different names:

the Great Lakes Conference.
The Midwestern Conference.
the Flyover Conference. ;)

Nope, the Big Ten is a brand and not merely a name.

If they change the name the Midwest Conference is probably my favorite, although I really like having "Big" in the conference name. This is why I kind of hope that if they change the name they wait until they are done growing (likely when they get to 16 teams because I still believe that's the ultimate goal) and call it the Big 16.

I don't think they'll change the name. It would be a huge hassle for the big ten network. I do think it's dumb that there were 11 teams, and it's not better now that there are 12. I'm curious to see if they can work a 12 into the new logo. lol

15 years in a row of at least one of the two teams winning the conference will do that.

They keep the Big 10 name, but just tack on the specific names of the two teams that finish last in each division at the end of the season. So it would be the "Big 10 plus Illinois and Indiana". After after the next season, you update it to reflect the records. Kind of like a relegation thing. You are in the conference, but you aren't in the "Big 10".

easy, make the 'E' into an 'e' and put it in the top (aka semicircular) part of the 2

This.

Also, most college football fans can't count high enough to see that there's anything inconsistent with it :p

Any Michael Moore fans? We could always call it "The Big One" and leave it ambiguous.

But, seriously, I'm in favor of keeping it the way it is. The precedent was set when Penn State joined.

If they add Missouri and Notre Dame....they'll encompass ten states. The Big Ten.

The Colossal Twelve. Two other BCS conferences stole the moniker "Big", so to hell with them. ;)

I love the Big 10 name, but it is probably time to come up with something else
