So what would be successful for Pedro? Triple Crown? A bunch of World Series? Turn the franchise around?
Perennial All-Star? Making the Pirates a contender for the Central? The Wildcard? A winning record?
Lots of K's? Trouble with curveballs? Devensive above average to average? Productive MLB hitter?
Better than Stargell? Better than Al Olvier? Better than LaRoche? Better than Mendoza?

You "expect" it? Do you own the place now?
Sounds awfully bossy...just sayin'.

He will struggle. I think the call up is more about the 9 game losing streak.

All I care about.
But it's the Pirates. They need more than one player.

He'll be a good player and will be traded for that reason like all the other good players that have come through there (Bay, McClouth, Sanchez, Wilson, Aramis Ramirez, Morgan, Batista, etc.)

I'd guess he'll start out slowly, as that's been what he's done at both Lynchburg last year and Indy this year, but then heat up after a couple/few weeks. At the very least, he should provide some power, which the team sorely needs, as Jones is really the only guy they can count on for production on a regular basis (McCutchen is great at getting on base, but seems less apt to drive in runs).
Oh and charliehustle, you're reaching a bit for some of those "good" players. McLouth had a very good half-season, but has been average for the rest of his career (except this year, where he's been horrible); Morgan's a great locker room guy from what I've heard, but an average player who's undisciplined on the bases and gets thrown out stealing way too often for a guy with his speed (only 14/24 in attempts this year) and Bautista's an average-at-best guy who had a freakish two months to open the season (his 18HRs is more than he's ever had in a full season), but seems to be coming down to earth, as in his last 10 games, his average has dropped 25 points and he's not hit any out.
As for the others, I'd be more critical about what they've gotten for them, as when you consider the team hasn't won anything with Bay, Sanchez, Wilson, etc., it's better to get something for them than just keep losing with them and wind up with nothing to show for it. I'm more worried that Andy LaRoche, Craig Hanson, Brandon Moss (Bay trade), Charlie Morton (McLouth), Jeff Clement (Wilson), Lastings Milledge (Morgan) have all shown very little at the big-league level. Cedeno's been an adequate short-term shortstop and Hanrahan's been a good reliever (current ERA inflated a lot by one horrible 1IP/6ER outing...which is the difference between 4.88 and 3.05), but they'll need a bunch of prospects to pan out to make some of those trades wind up looking good.

He will develop into a better than average player and then the Pirates will trade him for 2 undisclosed minor league players and a case of beef jerky.

I was there tonight. He hit a deep liner to left field after a K and W. On defense, he didn't look super, but I am going to guess he was going with very few hours of sleep. He looked nice at starting the 5-4-3 early. We may get a snapshot after 10 games or so, but it may be several years before we know.
