Jimi is better musically, although Eddie is better from a purely technical standpoint. Jimi plays kind of sloppy.

If anyone has heard Spanish Fly and/or Eruption, you'd change your mind. Back then, no one thought a guitar could sound like EVH's. If there was no EVH, no one would know today.
