What do you expect from tonight's game?

and

How much has the media blown him out of proportion (if at all)?

I expect something pretty average out of him, 5-6 innings (due to pitch count) and 2-3 earned runs against.

I don't know much about baseball, but from what everyone is saying about this kid and what he's been able to do in the minors, I think anything less than 5+ innings with no more than 3 earned runs would be a disappointment.

He has a lot of pressure on him tonight so it will be interesting to see how well he handles it.

This kid has been unhittable for years, at every level. I continue to think the talent will catch up with him, but it hasnt. It appears he was indeed ready for ML bats a long time ago. I would venture to guess he goes 6 innings of 2 run ball. He has a chance for longer given how much the Pirates swing at everything so his pitch count may actually be really low.

As for the media, I think from what the kid has shown, they havent blown him out of proportion at all. It is now on Strasburg to continue this dominance. If not, well I dont blame the media at all in this instance. Everything he has done suggests one of the greats. It isnt like some other where the media grabs hold and forces them upon us. This kid was fantastic even before ESPN got wind of him.

I voted outstanding because it is against the Pirates. Although, I expect Strasburg to have success most of the year. Rookies pitchers often have the upper hand their first time through the league.

I think he goes 6 and gives up 2-4 runs. Sounds about average to me. Wouldnt be surprised if he has an outstanding or bad outing either.

Pitches 7 innings. Gives up 2 earned runs. Strikes out 6. Walks 1. Gets the Win.

I would have loved nothing more than him to pitch the other day against Cincinnati and get drilled. And as amazing and weird as it feels to even say this as a Reds fan, they didn't send him out then because of the Cincinnati offense, he will go 6+ and give up less than 2 ER tonight because lets face it they planned who they were sending him out against.

It would be just like the Pirates to let him throw a perfect game. He's looking pretty sharp now, just hit triple digits, and has struck out 3 in a row.

It's funny how these fans act like they have never seen a strikeout or a 100 mph pitch before in their lives.

throws hard.... seeing as MLB Network cut away to the Mets/Padres game I haven't seen anything beyond the 1st inning.

I believe he's on a count of about 85 pitches, so if he goes anything beyond 6 innings I'd be really suprised

I got blacked out, too, on MLB Network.

You can watch the first 12 outs by Strasburg on MLB.com.

For some reason Pittsburgh is considered a home market in Ohio like even 100 miles away. It's freakin stupid. The same thing happens if you get the MLB.TV.
