So my gf's parents are coming into town for this weekend for her graduation, and friday night my parents want to come over and bring pizza and meet her parents. One problem, her parents don't like central ohio style pizza (crisp crust, cut into squares). I really don't want t do papa johns pizza hut or dominos. Are there any good NY style pizza places on the East, SE, or NE side of Columbus? We had the Flying Pizza last time they were in town, but that is clear on the other side of the city from me, but they liked it.

Tell them too darn bad. I know they are your gf's parents, but seriously, pizza is pizza. I don't think I've ever had a bad slice. As long as it has sauce, cheese, and pepperoni on it, I'm happy.

Okay none of those reccomendations are anywhere near where I asked. It would take am hour at least round trip just to pick up the pizza

Kingy's Pizza Pub in Canal Winchester is pretty good. Don't know if that is too far south/east for you or not. They sponsored a tourney softball team I played on a couple times last summer.

well since we're suggesting places not anywhere near where LJ wanted, how about Planks on Parsons or Zamerellis in GC? Neither are NY style, but they're worth it.

i don't know if it is new york style, but yellow brick pizza is supposed to be pretty good, its in olde town east.

If Polaris isn't too far then try BJ's. It's more Chicago style (thick, soft crust) but it was very good. Although it was a very thick pizza it wasn't as filling as others (Pizzeria UNO).

Maybe this is just an excuse her parent's use to disguise the real issue. Maybe it's you they don't like?

i was gonna suggest flying pizza,,,its hands down the best pizza in central OH...theres one on high street...not sure if you went to that one or the one on bethel last time

I 2nd Hound Dogs. I am not from Columbus; but every time I visit the city, I get Hound Dogs. Smokin' Joe crust, and Howlin' Hot sauce. Delicious!

If you're looking for a place on the east side of town for New York style pizza there is (or at least used to be) a place in New Albany at the corner of Morse and Hamilton in the shopping center with Kenneth's and Steinmart that made NY-style pizza. I can't remember what it's called though.
But honestly, unless you only like Chicago pizza, it's all the same. Real New York pizza is thin crust anyway, and what makes NY pizza so good is NY water. Can't duplicate NY pizza anywhere else. Tell them to get over their pizza snobbishness and enjoy a good pie.

Erroneous! Pizza is NOT pizza ... there are a lot of cuisine options that I really enjoyed when I lived in Ohio, but pizza was NOT one of them. Sorry boys, Ohio pizza sucks! The only decent pizza in Columbus that I tried (and this is going back a while) was Flying Pizza on High Street and Adriadicos on South Campus.

Uno's is pretty good deep dish pizza you can get to go, however it's pretty expensive.

sorry,apple--but you're high...if I want lasagna,then I'll order a NY style pizza...give me thin crust,combo mozzarella/provolone cheese and a good,sweet sauce--and we're good to go

Uno's is Chicago pizza. I believe that LJ is looking more for New York style pizza.

Just get them a DiGiorno's and con them into believing it's delivery. Seems to work out well most of the time in commercials.
