Guy Boucher, the CBJ's first choice turned down Howson's offer to remain with Montreal.

Risky move ... three seasons as a HC in the AHL. Have heard good things about him, he's creative, his players like him, he balancing offense and defense well; but, still, risky. Would love to see it pan out.

This is the direction they wanted to go. It's one of those wait and see kind of deals. Hopefully he can help Mason get it going between the ears so he can go back to getting it done between the pipes...

I would've rather seen Guy Boucher get the job here, instead of Arniel.

Why risky? He's NHL ready. Should we have gotten another recycled NHL coach? A Stanley Cup winning coach didn't pan out. I like the move and I'm glad we didn't end up with Boucher. His system wouldn't have worked here. We don't have the puck moving D-men to run it. Plus it's gimmicky and there is no proof it will work at the NHL level. Tampa Bay is taking the real risk, but they have the D-men that can do it.

Arniel is a players coach and has a history of developing young talent in Manitoba. And while he ran the PP in Buffalo, they were #3 in the league. When he left for Manitoba, they dropped to #17. I really like this hire.

Eh true. We don't have any dman except maybe Russell and Stralman, that can run a 1-3-1 forecheck. Boucher can do that in TB b/c of Hedman and Meszaros.
