Reds at home for 10 straight games......need to win at least 6 of them.
TOnight we have Johnny Cueto vs Barry Zito. Zito is having a fine year but the Reds should be able to continue patient and drill the soft tosser.....might have to take him opposite field.....but they should be able to hit him hard....hopefully Cueto changes speeds and planes a little better to keep the Giants off balance.
Orlando Cabrera and Edgar Renteria.....whoever gets the most oppostie field hits could be fun....they are much of the same player.....and both are loaded with good karma.
Reds 6
Giants 5

Well apparently Renteria doesn't have that good of karma as he hasn't played since May 25th.....
Cabrera should win that battle!

According to Buster Olney, the White Sox have officially become sellers. Should we go after Bobby Jenks or JJ Putz? I'm more convinced than ever after yesterday that we need better arms in the bullpen.

Need to win this one tonight with Cueto on the mound. Zito has been roughed up his last 3 starts, so he's more vulnerable now than ever this season.
Especially with the matchup tomorrow heavily favoring SF (Cain vs. Leclure), a win tonight is vital.

I wouldn't mind having Putz. I want no part of Jenks. He is talented, but he seems to be one of those guys who don't get "it"

As in several years' past the bullpen, regardless of cruddy manager, always seems to get overworked and this year looks to be the same but with a better arranged lineup and a little better starting pitching. Putz and Jenks would likely do well the remainder of the season in the NL....they aren't at their high level peaks they were not long ago....but definately a step or two up from most of our pen. If the Reds choose not to bring up Chapman like Adam Wainright was....then they need to go find someone like those two. Maybe they could take Laynce Nix (to join brother) and whoever else..but not at a big expense.
I said it a couple of weeks ago...the NL central is weak and the Reds are contenders and IMO need to make a move and likely even a bold one as the goal isn't to just make the playoffs.....you should be wanting to have a chance to win once you get there.

I'm pumped for this one...big game for sure.
Hopefully the Cards struggle out west and we could get a 2 or 3 game cushion in the Central.

Back to back rough outings for Cueto.
Need some offense, and soon.

Warning track power not doing the Reds much good so far. Cueto with 63 pitches 8 hits, a BB, and four earned runs would be worse had the Reds not gotten two outs on the bases on runners that weren't forced.
Rowand just now as I write this doesn't handle Rolen's warning track fly and he gets a triple and Gomes knocks him in with another warning track fly. Then Bruce gets it over the fence for just a 4-3 deficit. But how many more will Cueto and the Reds give up?

Ball is carrying like a mo fo tonight. Votto hit a cue ball to the edge of the wall. Cueto not his best but if he can keep them at 4 we should win this.

Cueto gets thru the 5th unscathed, and now has 74 pitches. Reds need to get to Zito in the next couple of innings or it will be too late.

Pablo Sandoval? He's not having a great season this year (not terrible either though) but he was a stud last year. I am a big Sandoval fan. Have you not heard of him? He was pretttty good last year. .330 avg, 25 HR
