You guys (FSJCC) have to be the preseason favorites, you have the most back including both Offensive and Defensive POY. My picks (based on practically nothing) are 1) FSJCC 2) Carey 3) H-L 4)Mohawk 5) SE 6) TC 7) Lakota 8) NB We won't really know much until after the 3 nonleague games but I still think Fremont would be a huge favorite with everyone else scrambling for 2nd 3rd and 4th spots.Crimson streak;380296 wrote:who are the early favorites? who are your offensive and defensive POY? and Key returnees for each team

actually only the offensive poy will be returning for the streaks. isaac bowling wont be returning his dad got a promotion and they will be moving to Kentucky. the one question for the streaks is who will be the qb? do they go back to zyski? or do they go with the sophomore yeckley?

I think it should be very interesting to see how St. Joe deals with having the bulls eye on their backs for the season after really coming from nowhere last year. They have Carey and HL in a 3 week span this year that should go a long way towards determining whether they can repeat as MAL champs. I share your thoughts on rankings 0311sdp and will take your word on SE and TC as i am not sure what they both return.

I'm not sure either, I know Calvert lost some really good players. SE returns quite a few kids and they are always talented but seem to underachieve for their talent every year. I have no idea how good most of the teams will be, just guessing based off what little I know and what I saw last season.

Have any teams in the league taken part in any 7 on 7's yet? I know this is the time of year for them.

my predictions for the year
1. SJCC- return all but 4 players, the loss of bowling will hurt the defense a little but they have too much talent and will be able to overcome bowlings loss.
2. Carey- lost quite a bit but are still very talented, the first league game vs SJCC will be for the league championship.
3. Hopewell- the loss of coach codge is huge, he is a damn good coach and put them in great positions for them to win.
4. Calvert- talented but not enough horses to knock off the top 3
5. seneca east- its hard to judge SE, they could be a sleeper in the league this year
6. Mohawk- talent seems to be dwindling over in sycamore
7. lakota- still better than NB but not enough to beat the upper tier of the league
8. NB- just not enough kids to compete

When Lakota made the switch to the MAL they were a fairly decent team that I thought would be able to compete pretty well with a majority of the teams in their new league. Evidently, they must have lost a majority of those players to graduation since the only predicted finish I see is 7th, right ahead of North Baltimore. Speaking of North Baltimore, is Coach Hollenbeck still in charge of the NB program? He is a good guy with a lot of experience and those kids down there have been lucky to have him as their coach. It's not always about wins and losses. There are a lot of ways kids win by playing sports and Chip stresses that.

SwampFox,
Lakota will have a down year this year but will be back in the mix in 2 years for a few more years. They just need a year to bring some of their young 9th graders and such up. They'll be okay in the MAL in 2011.

Hopewell-Louden scrimmaged Hardin Northern yesterday (8-11) They played to a 1-1 tie (varsity) H-L killed them in the JV portion of the scrimmage. H-L's offensive line was horrible and they were unable to run the ball at all against what most BVC people feel is a bottom 4 team in their league. I know it's early but maybe H-L is not up to their usual standard of play.

Watched Carey scrimmage Pandora-GIlboa Sat. 8-14. Defense looked real good, offense not so good 0-0 score. Carey had a lot of penalties, timing looked off. They have a lot to work on before the season starts. Only 50 players out this year, kind of surprising considering the recent success of the Blue Devils. Any other scores of MAL teams in scrimmages and how they are looking?

Were already at week 8 with Sjcc leading the way and Mohawk right behind them ( to be honest surprised me a lot) then followed by hl, Carey, and se
From the looks of region 22 Sjcc and mohawk have basically locked up play off spots and hopewell fighting for a spot in region 21
Any thoughts on who wins the league?
