I've done this for about the past 4 years on the huddle and I will post last year's results in a few minutes.......but simply rank your top 10 hitters in your opinion.....and you can list up to 5 honorable mentions. (I do recommend not just using the first 50 games of this season.....recent history is needed IMO)

Point totals (I'll do when everyone is done)

#1 = 12 pts
#2 = 10 pts
#3 = 8 pts
#4 = 7 pts
#5 = 6 pts
#6 = 5 pts
#7 = 4 pts
#8 = 3 pts
#9 = 2 pt
#10 = 1 pt

HM = 1/2 pts

By hitters, do you mean average, or all-around (including power numbers)?

Here is mine......tougher than usual

#1 Albert Pujols
#2 Joe Mauer
#3 Justin Morneau
#4 Miguel Cabrera
#5 Ichiro
#6 Evan Longoria
#7 Chase Utley
#8 Kevin Youklis
#9 Hanley Ramirez
#10 Ryan Braun

HM.....Robinson Cano ,Vlad, Andre Ethier, Carl Crawford, Michael Young

That was tough....a lot of moving once I did my original.......guys like Ryan Zimmerman, Joey Votto, Matt Holliday, Jayson Werth and many others should be considered.....perennial guys like Arod and Manny didn't make my list this year.....and Chipper is gone as well...all still very good just aren't top 10 IMO

I'll tally after about 25 lists......and 1 RULE.....don't criticize unless you do a top 10 of your own!

Bigapple....I have a mix in mine...not really a rubric.....just as you feel it necessary to rank

though anyone without Pujols or Mauer in the top 5 should probably be ignored

Dude, no offense because you are a pretty knowledgeable baseball fan. But to not have Miggy Cabrera on your list is shameful!

1. Albert Pujols...the greatest
2. Joe Mauer...professional hitter
3. Ichiro...imagine if he would have came to the MLB earlier
4. Miguel Cabrera...consistent, power hitter
5. Chase Utley...sticks out on a team full of very good hitters
6. Hanley Ramirez...whens the last time he didn't have a hit?
7. Evan Longoria...beat the hype (which is never easy to do) and then some.
8. Robinson Cano...his improvements over the past couple seasons are incredible
9. A-Rod...machine; runs his mouth and does some gay shit but he can hit with the best of them
10. Joey Votto...leads the NL in batting average and is a career .310 hitter, he will get his respect soon. needs to be in the all star game.

honorable mention: Morales, Vlad, Braun, Morneau, and You Kill Us

Shin Soo-Choo definitely deserves some HM votes.

He's the only offensive threat for the Indians, and he's a very good all around hitter.

He's at .280 right now, but he'll finish at or very close to .300

Also has 7 HR|25 RBI|26 RS|9 SB

I thought about putting him in my HM section, but then I looked at the stats. Yes, he is having a great year and will most likely be the Indians' all star, but he hasn't done it long enough to be put in the conversation. He has only played 1 full season, and his stats aren't that great to be put in the conversation for now.

Plenty of players will finish the season around .300. Choo has the ability to do that for multiple years, but you can't put someone in a "best hitters in baseball" list based on that until he can sustain that success.

And I was gonna say 7 HR and 25 RBI isn't THAT great, but for how bad of an offense he plays in, those are above average stats.

He's a very good player, but he isn't there quite yet (I think he will be there within 2 or 3 seasons if he can stay healthy)

Laley,

for some reason Migie completely slipped my mind... It might have been because of that little swoon he had last year towards the end of the season, but he has been killing the ball this year
