Arroyo in trouble to start with a walk. Then he had a full count on the 2nd batter and had thrown 12 pitches. In three pitches he was out of the inning clean, with the key being turning a 1-6-3 double play with the runner moving on the 13th pitch.

Rolen with a poor result with an infield pop-up with one out and runners at 2nd and 3rd. Then Bruce strikes out on a breaking ball in the dirt to end the threat. So both pitchers get away with walking the lead-off hitter. At least the Pirates hit a shot back at the pitcher, while the Reds could only muster two Ks and a pop-up, getting a BB in between!

I'd say the chances of Hanigan scoring on that were better than what I'd say was about a 1/3 chance of him scoring if he held 3rd with BP coming to bat!Rotinaj wrote: Whyyyyy send hanigan w Phillips up next????

Stubbs get snookered and picked off stealing 3rd on the reverse pivot move by the pitcher, and just after Hanigan gets a hit that would have scored him, but I still agree with the strategy of the his attempt to steal 3rd with one out.

I'm glad Bruce didn't break his wrist trying to catch that ball Jones hit into RF off his shoe-tops.

Cabrera lucked out on that call of out of the baseline on a play he really got no one on. What is the difference between that and what you see all the time at the plate with the runner sliding way out from the base, but yet close enough he can reach out and touch the base?

Cabrera knocked in another run with a sac fly. I'll bet in RBIs without getting a hit, he has more than double any other Red, with those and infield grounders.

Pitcher pops up with the bases loaded to end the 5th inning in Arroyo's favor. So far it looks like the difference in the game is the out of the baseline gift out call.

Turns out Cairo is more than just a warm body to stick in the field.
Stubbs has cost the Reds 2 runs the last 2 games. Forget his average, he needs to work on fundamentals at AAA.

Reds have 4 hits from the bottom three in the order and two from Votto's late replacement. The other five in the order have no hits!

I could watch him play 2nd all day, every day.
IMO a top 3 defensive 2B in the league.

Dusty departs from conventional by replacing Arroyo with righty Masset to face lefty Walker when lefty Herrera was also warming in the pen! Masset promptly gives up a hit to the lefty and walks McCutcheon! Then he brings Herrera in to face Jones with the bases loaded!

Nick Masset's ass should be on the first bus to Louisville. He's so bad that he should actually probably just go north to Dayton because I'm not sure he could get any AAA hitters out, either.
