I was trying to find some old Mingo pictures and happen acrossed this article.

Also it makes you think when he talks about hard work if most of our community has lost that sense of what hard work and pride really is.

and yes I know the article is from 2007 but I never knew of this before.While Fortunato was honored with the ceremony his former town gave him, he wanted to give something back to them as well.
He started the “Joe Fortunato Scholarship” which will be given to one male and female scholar athlete from Indian Creek High School each year.
“They were having this day to honor me and I decided I wanted to give something back to them,” Fortunato said. “They were shocked.”
