Does anyone remember the name of the haunted house ride at kings island? You sat in like a roller coaster cart and rode around through a haunted house. It's been a few years since its been around though. Thanks guys!

Was that the one with the Phantom of the Opera playing on the balcony when you entered? I can't remember what it was called.

Yeah it was. That's the closest answer I've gotten.

Wikipedia looks to have it labeled as "Phantom Theater", going defunct in 2002.

Yea it was the Phantom Theater. Good ride when I was a kid. I still remember seeing a 30 year old man cry when he got off of the Beast, and I had just ridden it for like the 3rd time that day.. an i was like 10 haha

Ride razorback over and over. Wait is never long and it's intense. Add in some mini coopers and you're set.

That's old school, even more old school was the Hanna-Barbera ride that was even before the Smurfs in the same facility.Chesapeake wrote: I remember a Smurfs boat ride that went indoors.
I remember The Bat back in the day, and the Screamin' Demon.

Found an interesting Kings Island timeline while investigating the old Smurf's ride and how dare those son of a bitches remove the antique cars!Manhattan Buckeye wrote:That's old school, even more old school was the Hanna-Barbera ride that was even before the Smurfs in the same facility.Chesapeake wrote: I remember a Smurfs boat ride that went indoors.

Also mentions how nobody ever got killed on the Bat like most people think.
It was just a steel coaster like you see today built way before it's time.
Camden Park got the Sreamin Demon and renamed it the Thunderbolt Express but it was closed more than it was open and has been gone for years. I think it was sent to a park in Mississippi or Missouri.

How about that old "Earthquake" ride at Cedar Point...I always kind of liked that one. You kind of rode through old San Francisco while animatronic things fell down around you...I'd like to see that again for nostalgia's sake.

Good lord Camden Park sucked. I remember the old entry for 25 cents...yeah that's about how much it was worth. Stupid clown. When we were kids we looked forward to the county fair rides more than a trip to Camden Park.
The Smurfs/Hanna-Barbera ride songs are still in the back of my head. From Hanna-Barbera there was the "Yabba Dabba Dabber Doo-to-Scooby Doobie Doobie Do" bit. With the Smurfs aside from the theme song, there was the dark Gargamel (sp.?) bit with him yelling
"I'll get you Smurfs!"
How my parents survived that without being wasted is beyond me.

Also found two rides under 1972 that ended up at Camden Park.Chesapeake wrote: Timeline of Kings Island from 1970 to 2006

The Flying Eagles ended up there recently.
Wheel of Fortune was there about 20 years ago and a bunch of people got injured on it so it was removed.
I think it was called the Enterprise there.

For young kids I'm sure Camden Park is fine, I have old, old pics of me in the late 70's doing the wheelie-arounds.
For teens, it was the church youth group and school award destination of choice...after a while the Big Dipper loses its big. And it was cheap then. Now it is $20 for general admission?

So the Bat was basically redesigned and rebuilt as the Top Gun with all new materials.The_Crosby_Show wrote:I wish i had the oppurtunity to ride but, they tore it down way before I even had the chance to ride it haha.Manhattan Buckeye wrote:That's old school, even more old school was the Hanna-Barbera ride that was even before the Smurfs in the same facility.Chesapeake wrote: I remember a Smurfs boat ride that went indoors.

I'm sure that Earthquake ride at Cedar Point would get a lot of complaints these days for the way it portrade(sp?) Chinese people. I liked it too though.
