In the meet on wednesday and Friday i saw a few kids get screwed out of regional appearances because of how loaded this district is. 2 kids threw 54 feet and will be home next week and 3 kids threw over 150 and will be home as well. I think we need some kind of reallignment or something because there are several districts where 54 and 150 would win both events. not leave the kid at home.

Would she have ran it next weekend? Since she is also in the 32 (imo) it's a blessing.

No, you're right, she wouldn't have ran it, especially after looking at the 3200 times coming in from the other districts. I'm looking forward to seeing her run it fresh. The last couple of times she's doubled, she says her legs start to get really tight with 800 meters left.

Nice job by both girls in the 3200 orangechik! You sure have a good group of freshman. D3 3200 is always one of my favorite races to watch as my daughter ran that in HS. Good Luck to both at regional!!

BTW ccrunner are you D2 or D3 for girls?

Thanks, Stationrun! We certainly do have a great group of freshmen. I'm feeling blessed and having fun. The D3 3200 has always been one of my favorite races. When did your daughter run?

How about the boys shot put at OH? Ya need to throw 55' to get out of district.

There were only about 9 other throws (DII) in the state (district meets)to get over 50', and only 1 of those was over 55'. Talk about a tough district in the shot.

I think last year all 4 from OH went on to state, with 3 in the top 5.

That is certainly a tough district in the throwing events and it might seem unfair to the 5th place finisher. How tough a district is varies greatly from event to event and year to year, so no matter how the OHSAA does it (unless they go to qualifying standards, which I don't think would be a good idea) some people will feel they are getting the shaft.

I think the state should look at qualifying standards and empliment something. The take on it would be that those standards would be so high that only 4-5 kids in the whole state would get it.

If you met a standard then you wouldnt have to do that event the rest of the season and show up to state and get to do it.

For instance, you set the mark at 4:15 in the mile for all divisions for guys. If you run a 4:14 at a meet early in the season then you apply for state meet status and some governing body grants it. Probably have to be ran on a FAT system. Then you get in the race at state along with the others that took the traditional dist/reg route.
Isn't that kinda like what NCAA's do with their automatic qualifying times?
As for a 4:15 mile for HS boys how many Ohio kids have ran that fast already?

Maybe instead of top 4 in the districts. make it top 16 in the region go to the regional meet. that way everyone gets a chance to out throw everyone else but at the same time the region has the top throwers. and the same thing will go for state meets. That way the best throws and the best times will get to throw and run another meet.

Speaking of districts, Congrats to the girls at Gallia Academy for winning their 14th straight district title. The guys also won this year for a district sweep.
