I can see the NCAA adding another year of probation, and possibly taking 1 coaching spot away. But other than that I think the NCAA will accept the self-imposed sanctions.

What exactly does probation mean? Does it simply mean that they'll be watched closely and be severely punished if they break any rules in the next two years, but nothing actually happens (other than reducing practice times and eliminating some coaching positions) during that time?

These self imposed punishments were actually the same as what the NCAA investigation committee informally suggested. The NCAA seems to have gotten into the habit of letting teams "self-impose" penalties to save face. This would have been the penalties no matter who announced them.

Except that the investigation committee doesn't make the final decision on punishment. We've seen it happen in the past that schools have done this and the NCAA still adds on. I think the NCAA will accept what they have decided, however, I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA does add on punishment for the accusations against RichRod for lack of oversight which the university denies.ksig489 wrote: These self imposed punishments were actually the same as what the NCAA investigation committee informally suggested.
