Has anyone received more hype for doing less? Basically his resume is the following :
1) He has had two mediocre stints as a head coach
2) He was a good assistant coach.
3) His dad is a great assistant coach.

Barack Obama received more hype for doing less, but that's for another forum... :)

To be fair both of his jobs were incomplete. One because his boss was crazy and the other was his doing. I will say, his teams seem to go to war for him.

I've always thought the same thing. Crazy how hyped he is and he only has 12 totals wins as a head coach between Oakland and Tennessee.

I'll nominate Charlie Weis. The guy had never been a head coach and just 7 games into his first season (with a 5-2 record), the administration gifts him a 10 year contract extension worth between $30-40 million. Lots of hype with little results.

These are my feelings on him. He is obviously a good recruiter and really made a lot of progress at Tennessee before bolting. With the resources at USC (and minus any major penatly by the NCAA), I think pretty much anyone could win there.
