Sunday, Bronson Arroyo gave up 2 runs in a complete game victory against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Sunday, Wily Mo Peña......uhhhhh.......oh he was released by the Mets last June and hasn't been heard from since.

I was a huge Wily Mo fan. He's a really stand up guy as well. Does a ton of good things back in the Dominican Republic. For an uneducated kid who has played away from home and been in professional baseball since the age of 16, he's really done well for himself.

It's amazing that the Mets signed him back in 1998, TWELVE years ago. I remember when the Yankees then gave him big money at only 16 and he was dealt to the Reds and basically rushed to the majors. He was impressive just to watch rip the ball, of course, that was when he made contact. I have yet to see a player in the majors hit a ball harder. I remember the game against Tampa Bay in Cincinnati when Wily Mo hit a walk off HR on his bobblehead night, still one of my favorite finishes. I remember another homer against the Dodgers down the left-field line, I still haven't seen a ball get out that fast. It literally was gone in 2 seconds.

Still one of my favorite Reds of all-time.

I was always intrigued by Wily Mo and I thought he was going to be a star, he just couldn't hit consistently enough. I never had a problem with him. Seemed like a pretty good guy

I was intrigued by him because I think there was a point where Wily Mo, given 600 AB's in a year would have literally led the MLB in home runs. Now, that would have come with an atrocious on-base percentage, an adventure in the outfield and an MLB single-season strikeout record (even more than Mark Reynold's IMO), but it was still an intriguing idea, especially when the Reds had no pitching at the time and no prayer at all to compete.

It's amazing how a guy can go from that scenario, where in the right spot, could lead the league in homers, to not even having a job in any organization, in such a short time.

What's even more amazing is Wily Mo just turned 28.
