Top 5 MIDFIELDERS I would say no. Top 5 DEFENSIVE mids (I know, some dont consider him to be the holding mid, but I think he sort of plays that role) I would probably say yes. BTW, Rock, why the hate on Yaya:D.....dude is probably the best right now, he or Essien??

Defensive mids in my eyes:
1. Yaya Toure (Essien is probably a bit better, but Im biased)
2. Michael Essien
3. Xabi Alonso
4. Daniele De Rossi
5. Cambiasso (he was tremendous for Inter this year, and of course retarded Maradona left him off)

Just missing would be Michael Carrick and Sergio Busquets

If you are ranking Mids, De Rossi doesnt crack my top ten, but would be in the next 10 or so.

Not sure when the Italian squad was released in relation to your post, but Rossi was cut by the Italians. I really dont hate the guy for going against the USA, but I sure as hell am not sad he got left out when he and Jozy would be a LETHAL combo for the US of A.

This link cracked me up. Not the people on it, or even the dudes opinion. But he had Xavi and Andres Iniesta as honorable mention....??? I was so flabbergasted by that, but then I did the "vote" and saw that 27% have Xavi as the best (more than any of the other options), so I felt better.

England has looked like SHIT the last two games (vs Japan and Mexico) and really should have lost both, particularly the Japan game. Of course, this is perfect timing for them to go apeshit and score 5 on us...

No matter what, people will always hate on the Italians. Especially Americans, because their style of soccer is not exciting enough for them, and they can't appreciate the beauty of the strategy. All Italy does is win, and will continue to win, but people will hate and continue to make up excuses. I remember last World Cup some people tried to tell me that Italy was lucky to win the world cup. Luck? 1. You can't win a World Cup just from luck, 2. Italy only gave up two goals (an own goal, and a BS pk). Sounds more like domination to me.
