I have been compared to some great players, but no one as good as Ken Griffey Jr. Thanks.

Your posts are about as bad as Griffey has been this year, so I won't argue.

I must admit I was totally shocked when Jr. Griffey came for this season. He should have retired about two years ago.

wow...

kind of suprising, but I guess when you're only getting about 6 or 7 AB's a week and they're not until late in the game, I can kind of understand it

This should be a clue to Griffey that his time has passed. He should have retired 2 years ago.

Word is he has depression issues being so far removed from his family in Florida. Players and clubhouse persons said he doesn't sleep at home and feels more comfortable in the clubhouse.

Griffey is entering Willie Mays-zone of tarnishing a legacy by trying to stick on so far past his prime it's pathetic.

When you could do things that amazed a fanbase at once, but now you're simply trying to stay above the Mendoza Line and have the occasional day where you actually contribute something meaningful...you HAVE to retire. Don't let people remember you as a burnt-out old man who couldn't bring shit to the plate. Please...

I don't think that Griffey can tarnish his name too bad. He's the greatest player I ever saw play in person. I would call him the greatest of his generation. He did it the right way and we all need to remember that.

If I were at a baseball game, I'd probably fall asleep too.

I don't understand it at all. You are being paid good money to play ball whether you are on the bench that game or not. How does his manager or GM let him get away with that?
If I were the owner, I'd be furious.

As a fan I'm pissed. The guy made more money taking a nap than a lot of people make in a year.

4 inning nap at 2.35 million per year = about $5000

Actually he was paid $15,000 for that game...a game he couldn't keep his eyes open in. He missed his $15,000 at bat. Truly inspirational.

I hear Shaggy playing in the background...."It wasn't me"....

Yeah....Wakamatsu says as the manager, "he chose not to use him" ....yeah, probably because you can't hit a ball with your eyes closed. Good choice.

In reality, the bad is on the manager who didn't seem to know what was going on.(and he should). He could have quieted all this by just saying after the game that "Griff wasn't feeling well, so I told him to go back to the clubhouse and lay down". It's great that some of the players are rallying to his defense, but it should have been handled a lot better all around.

He makes 2.35 million per year...which is 14,506 per game...he slept from the 6th-9th innings which is .44 of a whole game.....he was well and ready to hit .200 the first innings of the game so he more than earned his money lol.

$6780 at bat/nap

Sweeney chastised the anonymous young players for speaking about something that had happened in the clubhouse, according to the source.
Why would you chastise players for talking about something that happened when it supposedly never happened? Wouldn't you chastise them for making shit up? I don't buy that this story isn't true.

Oh I guarantee it happened.

And of course Junior and the manager are gonna come out and say it didn't.
