So we went to a minor league game last night, my wife (who knows next to nothing about baseball other than the basics) asked why the home guys had special music playing before their plate appearances, I explained that it is typical for batters to have a specific 10-15 second clip of a piece of music before they step to the plate, and that the home team closer usually has a song as well (that went over her head since we left before the 9th inning and the closer appearance).

I asked her if she was a batter what her song would be, I was surprised that she answered automatically, "Don't Cha" by the Pussycat Dolls. She then asked what my song would be, I had to think about it all night.

It would definitely have to be a cheesy 80's era arena rock song, so far the best I can think of is the entry to the chorus of Night Ranger's "Sister Christian." If I was a closer I'd DEFINITELY walk to the mound to Cash's "God's Gonna Cut You Down."

So what is your (i) batting song and (ii) closer song? In the event I ever make a minor league team I might need a better batting clip.

I thought about this before also, kind of along the same lines of a boxer entering the ring. I don't know if a Pro baseball organization would allow it, but I would like to have Hair of the dog playing for my plate appearance or upon entering the ring.

Actually I'd probably have something like Brand New's "Vices" because it would scare all of the old people.

Batting-Groove Line by Heatwave or All the Way Live-Lakeside

Closing-Now We Stop the Music-Yarborough and Peoples

Kind of dating myself, but I think they would both work for the snippet that you get, even though they are from 25-35 years ago
