Wow! Does anyone seriously think this is ok? And furthermore, does anyone seriously think this is going to help child obesity?

Do people really have no self-control to the point where the government has to tell us what is healthy at fast food joints and make the decisions for us? Pathetic!

I get what they are trying to do, but I don't see how this is something that should ever be governed.

God forbid a parent have to step up to the plate themselves and just not buy their child a bunch of fast food...

Personal responsibilty? What a dated concept. I'd much rather see us turn all accountabilty for our lives over to people who know what's good for us far better than we ever could.

So you can smoke pot, but not be able to get a toy in your Happy Meal? Makes sense to me.

What a surprise, we head even more towards socialism...

Seriously, is it that hard to say "no" to a kid as a parent?

We don't eat fast food that often, but when we do we never get "kids meals". The kids eat something a little more healthy.

The older son likes chicken sandwiches, the middle one likes them or salads (no kidding, my 6 year old loves salads), the youngest eats chicken as well.

We limit the french fries a ton, they get 1 small fry to split between the 3 of them instead of 1 each.

When I grow up I want to be more like my son! He has never had a soda...says he doesn't like them. He doesn't like chocolate or candy. He LOOOOOOOOVES Fruit. ...says it's God's candy

We simply don't eat fast food and that might contribute to his developed and aquirred taste. Since our children's birth we have never really kept garbage food in the house. I think it has helped in steering them to want and like other things.

It just ain't America when kids don't go to the booster box to get a bottle of Ski or to Mickey D's for a milkshake after a baseball game. Note to the nannies, the Ski and the Mickey D's isn't the biggest problem relating to obesity, it is the lack of physical activity - again caused by such nanniness (if that is a word) since Buffy the soccer mom doesn't want little Madison or Dakota to get physically hurt in such activities, or even worse have their esteem potentially lowered by engaging in competitive sports.

Since taxpayers are now paying for healthcare, it should be illegal to be fat. This is just a small step in what's to come.

Lol, of course.

Not to mention that this was a COUNTY that did this, not the Federal Government.

Everyone always says that these sorts of things should be done at the county and state level, not the federal level. And this was done at the local level.

This is ridiculous. And the lady on the O'Reilly Factor last night that was supporting/defending this was a giant cunt. I seriously wanted to punch her face in.

She was bitching about the "nagging" that happens when a kid wants a Happy Meal. Really?? You can't just be a normal parent and say NO? Her kids may not be obese but she is probably a terrible parent in every other way imaginable. I bet her sons have vaginas.

Too be honest though, if you don't eat fast food very often, your kid can eat whatever they want and it won't hurt them. Everything in moderation!

We don't go that often but let them get what they want. It's usually nuggets and fries.

My 6 year old son is like yours, he loves healthy foods. Loves salad, grilled fish, veggies and fruits. But he's also a kid and likes junk too. It's up to us parents to decide what's available to him. I don't understand why some people have such a hard time understanding that.

Blaming fast food for obesity is bullshit IMO. I am slightly overweight (6'0, 235 but some good muscle). But I don't blame fast food. I blame MYSELF for eating fast food. Or whatever junk I eat.

That's my favorite part.

My answer would have been...if the kid is still "nagging" after the first "no", beat the kids butt.

The kid will stop nagging.

This isn't that hard here folks, I know this is the "time out" and the "parents/kids can be friends" generation, but good Lord a little discipline goes a long way.

Yea, not this in particular, necessarily, was just pointing out that i seemed to be sensing this "just one more sign that we're becoming a socialist nation" feeling, which generally is directed at the federal government nowadays, so was just clarifying that this is a county-level mandate.

Fair enough, I agree that the "socialist" thing gets silly. This topic also shows that "nannyism" is not a monopoly held by the feds.
