I am watching the Mets game, and David Wright just got his 1000th career hit (he also has 143 career HRs in 843 career games).

Only three other players in New York sports history had better HR and hit totals after 843 games ... who are they?

Just heard this on SNY, so I assume this answer is correct (I didn't research it).

Laley got them all, nicely done ... Ruth, Dimaggio and Gehrig. Pretty nice company for Mr. Wright!

I swear that was my 3......I thought about Dimaggio and Mantle (Ruth and Gehrig were no doubters).....but Mantle walked so much he probably didn't have the hits....and I knew Dimaggio had HUGE years early on.

Interesting.

Roughly....not exact

Ruth 315 HR.....1100 hits
Gehrig 180 HR....1065 hits
Dimaggio 185 HR....1060 hits

Mantle had to just miss it in hits by a couple

Thru 843 career games.....which is a weird number as that doesn't include the last 4 games of last season?

Wright had 978 hits and 143 HR
Mantle had 951 hits and 182 HR
