Kansas State is currently sitting at 6-5, 4-3 in the Big 12. They play at Nebraska this week (4-2 in conference).

If they win, they will be the Big 12 north champs and go to the Big 12 title game.

If they lose, they will not be bowl eligible, because they beat 2 D-1AA teams this year, so they would only have 5 wins counting towards bowl eligibility.

Talk about a huge swing.

And by the way, how terrible is the Big 12 north that a team that lost to UL-Lafayette, lost to UCLA by 14, and lost to Texas Tech by 52 is a win away from winning the division?

No you have it all wrong. The Big 12 is far superior to the Big Televen in so many ways....that is if you believe all the "experts."

It's interesting that you posted this thread because I just had dinner last night with one of our corporate guru's who happens to be a KSU grad. He talked a lot about this "dilemma." He's still pumped about it though. I just looked at him and said, "Uh huh."

I think that "uh huh" is the perfect response. I think we have made it so easy to get to a "Bowl" that there are many teams that can become "Bowl" eligible this weekend. Michigan for one. KSU for another...and we all can name others who have no business whatsoever playing in a post season game since their regular season was so unimpressive. The name of the game has nothing to do with being a competitive football team. It has to do with which teams "travel well" and provide the "Bowl" sponsors a pretty good chance to turn an extra buck. I liked it when you had to be a Bowl team to play in one.

Agreed. But the scary thing is that if whoever wins the division has a great day and upsets Texas in the championship, they take away a BCS bid from a team that had a great season instead of just one great day.

KState has more wins than I thought they'd get this year. Especially after they brought back the fossilized Bill Snyder. I did not think that was a good decision at all. The firing of Ron Prince still baffles me. He seemed like he had them headed in the right direction and heck he even coached up a QB that was a 1st rounder.

and they'll get blown out by Texas in the Big XII title game. Texas has a walk to the National Title Game, or should, pending the outcome of the SEC title game.

^You're overlooking A&M on friday. They'll player Texas a lot closer than everyone thinks they will. They almost always do.

This is why I hate conference championship games. If KSU wins they and Texas will both play in BCS bowl games. Boise State and TCU are both more deserving than KSU, but if KSU wins the Big 12 then one of those teams will certainly be left out of the party. Conference championship games are far worse for college football than the BCS is.

I'd love to see that happen but I just can't see it. this Texas team is one of the most disciplined teams I've ever seen, even with the 3 1/2 quarters of sleepwalking against Colorado
