Who is your top 5 for next years draft?

Jake Locker screwed the pooch. Goodell wants a rookie pay scale and obviously the current players would be for that as well. It's going to get done. He just cost himself millions of dollars. What he did was noble, but if you are one of the guys who everybody thinks will be a top 10 guy, and there are whispers about a payscale... you go.

There could be some pretty good WR's next year. I don't really like any of the QB's that could be going next year (not enough to take in the top 15 picks).

You're in the minority. Locker was very highly regarded THIS year. Some thought he and Bradford would be competing to be the #1 pick

The minority?!?! I was in that group too when I said Jamarcus was too dumb to be a good NFL QB and that I wouldn't draft him in the first couple rounds. I got hell about it a couple years ago on the huddle because "scouts said it was the best throwing workout they've ever seen". That one didn't turn out too bad. I have seen NOTHING from Jake Locker that would make me want to draft that kid #1. I wouldn't take him in the 1st round. He's a big, strong, fast kid that has a pretty powerful arm. Too bad he isn't that accurate and doesn't make good decisions.

what about Jacory Harris?

he cooled off some after the hot start but still finished with 3,352 yards, 24 TDs, 17 INTs

also he's playing under Mark Whipple, gaining some pro-style experience

Maybe a 3rd day draftee in this format. He needs more accuracy and better decision making. That's just my opinion.

I'm not trying to be a jerk... but who cares? The scouts like Locker and is he projected to be a top pick. Which is what he cares about. The same goes for JaBustus Russell. Sure you may have been right about him, but you weren't making the pick for the Raiders or anybody else in the league. He left and got paid... a lot. Many others would have stupidly done the same thing

I like this QB from Texas Tech

Steven Sheffield

He came in for Taylor Potts last year and in his first start against Kansas State had 490 yards and seven touchdowns and was 33 of 41.

Then in the Alamo Bowl went 9 of 11 for 88 yards and led two scoring drives.

Not sure how that's going to play out with Leach gone. He may get forgotten this season but could end up being a sleeper.

I know you weren't, nor was I. Nobody said anything about them leaving and getting paid; that kinda come from nowhere. Somebody brought up Locker and I just put my two cents in, which you gladly noted that I was a minority in that thinking.

He's from TTech. That's all I have to say about QB's that go there. Productive guys while in college, not the type of guys I'd want throwing against NFL type DB's. Just my two cents, nothing more.

If the 2010 draft is any indication, you second list is better than the first. There is a trend in picking up stud defensive lineman and offensive lineman over WR's and RB's. I have said for years there is a huge gap in talent between the top shelf lineman and the rest vs. WR's and RB's. One does not need to to waste the top 5 picks on a WR or RB unless he is one of those "once in a blue moon" type of players.

Yeah I realize all that. Texas Tech guys always look good in that offense but nothing more. I think Sheffield may have something. He's like a Matt Ryan in demeanor. Cool. He's only 6'4 and 190, too thin. He hasn't played enough to really know at this point but I'd say keep an eye on him this season and maybe next year in the pre-draft workouts.

Like I said I wasn't trying to be a jerk. But the fact is, nearly everybody likes him. He was thought to have been the #1 QB for a while. Which is where the "you're in the minority" stuff came from

It's kind of interesting about the d-line men because watching Clayborn you could say well he's easily in the Top 5.

And then looking at Heyward you could say he's definitely in the Top 5.

And then Marvin Austin, no question Top 5.

Pretty soon you have more than five. :D

Bowers from Clemson is a specimen. He hasn't been productive like these others yet but this will be an important season for him.

Eh I'd shy away from those Texas Tech guys. None of them have proven anything in the NFL. Harrell was actually one of the first QBs they got who was actually kind of touted coming out of high school and he didn't turn out to be much. The Tech QB's numbers are always going to be inflated and they are never prepared for the league. Guys from the spread struggle at making the transition for whatever reason (cough: Colt McCoy)

Next years draft is going to be stacked with D-line and WR's. The position that will be weak is RB.

Big Ben is one of the few guys I can think of that put up ridic numbers his final year and hit it big in the NFL

4400 yards and 37 tds his final year at Miami.

They aren't many of them. They all usually lack velocity and power. Pretty acuarate guys those for their systems in college.
