Mets 3, Braves 2, one out in the bottom of the 7th. Runners on 1st and 2nd, Jose Reyes at the plate. Reyes pops up to third, and the ump immediately calls the infield fly rule, and Reyes is out. However, in a swirling wind, Chipper Jones drops the balls, and the runs advance to 2nd and 3rd. Reyes runs to first anyway, and the Braves throw the ball to first to tag Reyes just to be sure, then start arguing with the ump. Angel Pagan then takes off from third and scores with no one covering home plate, and Bobby Cox went nuts! Never saw such a weird play ...

why would they throw to first? even if the infield fly rule was not called or whatever, there is no way they could get Reyes out. dumb move by Jones.

It was really odd, it was as if the Braves had no idea about the rule. McCann actually picked up the ball and threw it to first, and Hinske just started jawing. The Mets 3rd base coach just sent Pagan, and no one covered, just a strange play to witness.

I wondered what happened. I was following on gamecast and all it said was Reyes popped out to third, runner from second scored on error by Jones. I was trying to think of ways it could have went down and it is safe to say this is not something that crossed my mind...
