                                and the game is Saints/Steelers.
Will be interesting to see the tv ratings. I certainly know what I'll be watching, unless there's a miracle and the Reds have the ability to become a competitive team again.

I can't believe they did it seeing as how FOX pays the NFL the most money. NBC must have offered something to the NFL because they were the ones who kept throwing around the idea that they were going to do it.

http://www.inquisitr.com/44704/mlb-post-season-beats-the-nfl-in-tv-ratings/Game six of the ALCS between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim scored an 11.4 overnight rating, compared to a 10.4 rating for NBC’s Sunday Night Football broadcast of the Arizona Cardinals versus the New York Giants.
Also NBC pulls in the least amount of viewers compared to FOX and CBS football games.

Good point, but you're also talking about the 2 largest TV audience regions in the country on the baseball end (one of which has no NFL affiliation), and with the Jints being part of the football equation on the other end the football audience was cannibalized.
In short, I can see a Saints/Steelers matchup embarassing the World Series ratings.

yeah, but that was just an ALCS game also. plus i personally dont think the steelers have the national following like the Cowboys or Patriots and even now the Saints after Katrina have. the only people who i think will be watching the football game will be people in the deep south and in pittsburgh(unless the pirates make it to the WS). its not even a big rivalry game, so i think baseball will win out in the ratings.Manhattan Buckeye wrote: ^^^

You realize you mentioned the Saints, right? The NFL game is a fairly big game, aside from the fantasy football people/Vegas betters. Not only do I think the WS will lose in the ratings, it won't even be close. The only hope for MLB is that its a Yankees/Dodgers match-up to get that huge audience.
And I'm not a Steelers fan, but you don't think the Steelers don't have a big following? At the sports bar I frequented for years (Scruffy Duffy's in NYC) the STILLERS were the biggest draw.

Pittsburgh always brings in good ratings. They're one of the biggest national teams which is why they get a lot of primetime games.
New Orleans has also become a public team with the big passing offense and obviously the Super Bowl win.
That's going to be a challenge for the World Series. I think they'll need the Yankees or Red Sox involved to win out.

unless its another Tampa Bay/Phillies WS, they are about even in the ratings. baseball in NY won out when both the Giants and Yankees played. if the pirates make it to the WS, i definitely see the WS getting more viewers in Pittsburgh.2quik4u wrote:lol the ratings are gonna make the mlb look bad, a regular season football game beats out a ws game.Glory Days wrote:yeah, but that was just an ALCS game also. plus i personally dont think the steelers have the national following like the Cowboys or Patriots and even now the Saints after Katrina have. the only people who i think will be watching the football game will be people in the deep south and in pittsburgh(unless the pirates make it to the WS). its not even a big rivalry game, so i think baseball will win out in the ratings.Manhattan Buckeye wrote: ^^^

I'm not doubting that the NFL will draw their people, I'm just saying I think the MLB ratings wont decrease as much as you guys think it will.2quik4u wrote:lhslep134 wrote: I think you guys are completely underestimating how many people are interested in the World Series. You know what would get even better ratings than either game? The night before the game, a camera following Rothlisberger around the French Quarter with a handful of beads.
