Guru from Gang Starr dead at 43.

One of my favorite rappers ever. Loved his monotown flow.
I guess he met his "moment of truth"

"Yo I got one lyric pointed at your head for start
Another one, is pointed at your weak ass heart
Now if I pull the trigger, on these fully loaded lines
You're gonna wish I woulda pulled a black nine."
Moment of Truth is probably one of my favorite hip hop songs. So good.
RIP

Gangstarr is of the best Hip-Hop groups/duos of ALL TIME. Dwyck and Take It Personal might be my two favorite tracks. Above The Clouds with Deck, The Militia with Freddie Foxxx, etc., Now You're Mine, Mostly Tha Voice, Discipline, Mass Appeal, Full Clip, Watch What'cha Sayin' with Chaka Khan, Step In the Arena, Manifest. The list goes on. Guru was one of the most gifted MC's to ever bless the game. Today is truly a sad day for Hip-Hop. This is in memory of......REST IN PEACE

Probably not as publicized, but its also the 8th anniversary of Layne Staley's death, although in a sense he died a few years earlier. Really unfortunate how a guy couldn't get off the downward spiral of heroin.

"I can't understand, they should ban it, can it
too much weak talk and not enough real Hip-Hop
I sense a purpose is fillin' me,
to display credibility and show responsibility, willingly
I'll take on any Johnny Dangerous
pull his file, for he knows he cannot hang with this
the illest king, I smack the jokers
no hocus pocus, a real MC when I kick vocals."

http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.11074/title.gang-starrs-guru-passes-away-from-cancer-opens-non-profitIn a letter released to fans, Guru (who is said by publicists to have written the statement) acknowledged being survived by his son. The emcee also acknowledged his non-profit charity foundation, Each One Counts. "I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a cure for this terrible disease that took my life. I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting," reportedly wrote Guru.
