Bradford won't fix the Browns.

Not sure about Washington. I'm sure they want a young QB but they need line help for whoever is at QB and they don't have a second or third round pick.

Seattle has two first rounders but they're already in a position to get a QB (Clausen) if they want and another top 14 player. I have to think Pete Carroll likes the position they're in.

Cleveland seems to me to be the most likely trade partner. They have some picks to give up but besides that, Holmgren comes off as someone who wants to make the big move and big headline in this primetime first round.

Dumb move for any of those teams to trade up. You can find a good QB anywhere in the draft. There's no need to blow your wad at one guy. Especially if you have to give up multiple picks to do it.

I don't disagree with you -- but history says you can't find a GOOD QB anywhere in the draft. They're almost always from the first round.

Tom Brady, 6th round
Kurt Warner, undrafted
Marc Bulger, 6th round
Matt Schaub, 3rd round
Drew Brees, 2nd round
Aaron Rodgers, late 1st
Tony Romo, undrafted
Matt Hassselbeck, 6th round
Brett Favre, 2nd round

I could keep going...

This is a list compiled from a few weeks back.

Basically, the QBs on teams that could challenge for playoffs or more.

Tom Brady - 6th
Mark Sanchez - 1st
Ben Roethlisberger - 1st
Joe Flacco - 1st
Carson Palmer - 1st
Peyton Manning - 1st
Matt Schaub - 3rd
Vince Young - 1st
Philip Rivers - 1st
Kyle Orton - 4th
Tony Romo - undrafted
Eli Manning - 1st
Donovan McNabb - 1st
Kevin Kolb - 2nd
Aaron Rodgers - 1st
Brett Favre - 2nd
Drew Brees - 2nd
Matt Ryan - 1st
Matt Leinart - 1st
Alex Smith - 1st

Obviously a few of those players are not proven.

There have been some good QBs drafted later on but the majority of top QBs were taken in the Top 35. The second round QBs usually went very early in the second round.

The point I was trying to make is that you can get a good QB without drafting him #1 overall and it is silly to trade up to do it.

There is enough evidence for both I would say.

Warner, Brady, Schaub, Hasselbeck, Romo -- that's a strong list to show that you can find a franchise QB outside of the first round.

But plenty of others were taken in the first or early second.

I do think Kafka has a chance to be a sleeper. He really hasn't had enough time to develop. Two years ago when he first started playing he did a lot of running but then last year he made good strides as an efficient passer in the spread passing offense. Not sure about throwing the deep ball. That could be a real weakness.
